SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE

We are receiving multiple reports of scam phone calls where callers are posing as members of the Sheriff’s Office and telling people there is a warrant for their arrest unless they send money or provide personal information.

THIS IS A SCAM.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you demanding payment, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or personal financial information over the phone.

Real warrants are handled in person by law enforcement

• We do not threaten arrest over the phone

• We do not accept payment by gift cards, apps, or wire transfer

If you receive one of these calls:

• Do not give out personal or financial information

• Hang up immediately

• Report the call to our office
