1 Dec 2025 Sgt. Huffer met with an individual who reported Cecil Boley Jr. had assaulted them the previous day in Warren Township. Boley was yelling at the victim because they had hidden a firearm from him due to threats that were made the previous night. The two were in a bedroom when Boley forcibly grabbed the victim’s wrists. Boley was not going to let go until he found the firearm. The victim was able to get past Boley and make it to the front door before Boley was able to grab her again. Cecil L. Boley Jr., age 37, 436 Robinson Hill Road, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint.
1 Dec 2025 deputies and the Barlow Vol. Fire Dept. squad responded to the scene of a deceased individual.
2 Dec 2025 Deputy Gerber responded to 805 Bethel Road, Warren Township, to a 911 hang up call. Heather Braswell was found to be the one making the call, stating she did this to intimidate her husband, James Braswell, during an argument. Contact was made with the Braswells and when questioned about the incident James advised they were arguing about Heather removing something from the home and giving it to another individual. James was angry and advised if Heather was going to take something of his, then he would take something of hers. James then took a bag and began putting Heather’s things in the bag. The two then struggled over the bag and Heather then stated “Siri call 911”. James then let go of Heather and the call disconnected. James stated he then walked away from the situation. James N. Braswell, age 50, and Heather A. Braswell, age 38, are both being summoned into Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of disorderly conduct.
2 Dec 2025 Sgt. Skidmore was advised by other jail personnel of a protection order violation committed by Jason Adam Szakal. Szakal admitted to an individual via a tablet message that he had corresponded with the protected party in his case, while attending a court hearing. Szakal was found to have spoke of his actions while in court, claiming to have used vulgar language towards the protected party. The validity of the protection order was confirmed and Szakal, age 46, 4505 Whipple Run Road, Whipple, OH, was charged with violating a protection order.
2 Dec 2025 Deputy Talarico met with the protected party of a protection order. A Facebook message was sent to the protected party by an individual who had spoken with Scott Allan Johnson. Johnson is involved in the protection order and is not to have contact with the protected party. Johnson asked this subject to get a message to the “protected party” that he was sorry and that he didn’t want them to be fighting. After completing the investigation at the Washington County Jail, it was determined that Johnson had spoken with an individual and wanted them to get in touch with the protected party of the protection order. Johnson was charged with violation of a protection order.
3 Dec 2025 Deputy Norris began an investigation into a copper wire theft.
6 Dec 2025 Deputy Bush responded to Main Street, Lowell, Ohio, to a report that multiple people were in a home and they would not leave. Deputy Bush met with the caller, James Lambert, who stated he had taken a large amount of store bought mushrooms, and there were people in his house that would not leave. Lambert gave officers permission to search the residence for these individuals. During the search nobody was located, but a firearm was located in Lambert’s bedroom, in plain view. It was inquired of dispatch the status of Lambert, and they stated he had prior felony arrests, and he was a prohibited person. No other firearms were located at that time. Lambert was persistent that people were inside the home, and talking to him. No subjects were found in the residence. Lambert, age 56, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail for having weapons under disability, felony of the third degree.

Brandon Lee Gibbs, age 32, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.
Ethan Wade Ash, age 37, New Matamoras, OH, probation violation, a felony.
Thomas Mathew Pearison, age 38, Terre Haute, IN, probation violation, a felony.
There are currently 22 women and 97 men incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
