Washington County Sheriff’s Office Receives CIT Program of the Year Award

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was recognized at the annual Ohio Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Conference, receiving the CIT Program of the Year Award for its initiatives at the Washington County Jail.

The award highlights the agency’s commitment to improving responses to individuals experiencing mental health crises, along with strong partnerships with peer recovery services and the IGNITE program.

IGNITE, which stands for Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education, is a structured inmate education and rehabilitation program that provides academic instruction, vocational training, and life skills to help reduce recidivism and prepare individuals for successful reentry.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our employees who serve with compassion and professionalism,” said Sheriff Warden. “We are proud of our CIT program at the Washington County Jail and the partnerships that help us better support those in crisis.”

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to advancing crisis intervention through training, collaboration, and continued focus on those in need.
