SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE

We are receiving numerous reports of scam phone calls where callers impersonate members of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. They threaten arrest unless the caller sends money or provides personal information.

THIS IS A SCAM.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office NEVER calls you demanding payment, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or personal financial information over the phone. Real warrants are handled in person by law enforcement, and they do not threaten arrest over the phone. They also do not accept payment via gift cards, apps, or wire transfer.

If you receive one of these calls, do not give out any personal or financial information. Hang up immediately.
