20 Aug 2025 Deputy Welch was dispatched to speak with a complainant of domestic violence in Barlow Township. Deputy Welch was advised that Michael P. Steinbeck started yelling over various things. After conducting the investigation it was determined that Steinbeck would be charged with domestic violence. Steinbeck was placed under arrest and processed into the Washington County Jail for processing.
20 Aug 2025 Deputy Thornberry was dispatched to Newport Township to a report of domestic violence. After conducting the investigation this case was forwarded to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office for possible juvenile charges.
20 Aug 2025 Deputy Thornberry began an investigation into a bitcoin scam. The subjects were advised through their computer screen “Microsoft Team” about hackers. The victim was to take cash to a Bitcoin machine. This investigation is continuing.
21 Aug 2025 Deputy Huffer was notified of reckless driving by a subject riding an ATV in the Wesley Township area. After checking the residence of the subject, and learning that the individual was not the correct person, Deputy Huffer continued to the location of another possible suspect. The subject admitted to the allegations and charges are pending on the juvenile at this time.

Lucas Taylor Kinkade, age 32, Jacobsburg, OH, parole violation, a felony.
Linda Sue Miller, age 49, Beverly, OH, petty theft, a felony.
Nicholas Dewayne Boley, age 40, New Matamoras, OH, probation violation, a felony.
Brian Joseph Elkins, age 48, Diamond, OH, driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, a misdemeanor.
Eric Wayne Nutter, age 60, Marietta, OH, menacing by stalking 2 counts, and voyeurism, all felonies.
Scott Allen Johnson, age 49, FL, fugitive from justice, breach of recognizance and theft, all misdemeanors.
There are currently 21 women and 91 men incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
