Notice of Low-Flying Airplane

Residents in the Barlow, Watertown, and Waterford area may notice a low-flying airplane in the next couple days. The aircraft will be applying seeds such as rye, oats, radish, or turnips to specific farm fields as part of a process to establish cover crops.

Cover crops are planted after the main harvest season to protect and enrich the soil. They help reduce erosion, improve soil health, and recycle nutrients for the next planting season.

Using an airplane is the most efficient way to spread this seed across large farm fields while there is still a crop growing. The material being applied is safe and poses no harm to humans, pets, or livestock.

Please note: The airplane will not be dropping anything over roads, homes, or non-farm properties. This is a routine agricultural practice and not a cause for concern
