12 Aug 2025 at approximately 4:16 pm Sgt. Harlow was dispatched to Federal Road, Belpre Township, to a report from the Washington County Juvenile Center that one of the juveniles completing community service had stolen a county-owned vehicle assigned to the Washington County Juvenile Center. It was reported that the juvenile was driving a dark gray 2016 Ford Escape and was seen driving north on State Route 7 towards Belpre, and numerous other sightings were reported through dispatch. All responding officers, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol, patrolled the areas the juvenile was seen in and after an extensive search of those areas, as well as several miles in all directions, the juvenile and stolen vehicle were not able to be located. Later this date dispatch was advised by a probation officer that the juvenile was observed again on Veto Road at which time several officers patrolled the area for the vehicle, observing the vehicle and then losing the vehicle when the juvenile travelled at a high rate of speed. Sgt. Painter was on State Route 676 when he observed the vehicle at a residence and immediately activated the emergency lights. The juvenile immediately accelerated in reverse causing the vehicle to strike a fire hydrant and landscaping in a side yard.
