28 Sept 2026 Deputies responded to Grandview Township to a report of disorderly conduct between individuals in the area.

28 Sept 2026 Deputy McElroy was on patrol northbound on Main Street, Belpre, when he observed a vehicle with no license plate lights.  The driver began accelerating when Deputy McElroy attempted to pull him/her over.  The driver failed to stop at a stop sign and turned onto Walnut Street.  The driver then fled the vehicle and was located hiding under a vehicle. The male was identified as Joseph Hesson and found to have an active warrant and a suspended license.  Hesson, 713 ½ Walnut Street, Belpre, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with obstructing, reckless operation and driving under suspension. 

29 Sept 2026 Deputy McElroy was stationary in the 1400 block of Washington Boulevard, Belpre, OH, when he observed a vehicle driving with only one headlight.  A traffic stop was conducted with Kenneth Ray Parrish, 112 ½ Lee Street, Belpre, OH, who was driving on an expired license.  Parrish was issued a citation for operating a vehicle without a valid operator’s license. 

On 30 Sept 2026 Deputy Gerber met with an individual at the Sheriff’s Office who wished to report Davin A. Wolfert had assaulted an individual at a residence in Adams Township.  After conducting the investigation and talking with individuals involved Sgt. Huffer and Deputy Welch proceeded to 765 Schau Road, Lowell, OH, in order to meet with Davin Wolfert.  Wolfert was located and placed under arrest charged with domestic violence and transported to the Washington County Jail.

30 Sept 2026 while patrolling SR 7 near Briggs Hill Road, Dunham Township, Deputy Welch observed a black GMC truck, bearing Ohio registration driving on the shoulder of the road with hazard lights on.  A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Andrew Huck.  Huck was asked why he was driving on the shoulder and he stated he was out of gas.  A consent to search was obtained at that time from Huck.  During the search, a steel container with suspected fentanyl was located, attached to his car keys, which were in the ignition.  Huck was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail.  Upon arrival at the jail, Huck was asked if he had anything illegal on him, which he denied. A Corrections Officer located two plastic containers in the front pockets of Huck, one containing suspected fentanyl and the other containing suspected meth.  Andrew A. Huck, 10 Kern Drive, Marietta, OH, was charged with illegal conveyance into a jail facility, possession of fentanyl and possession of methamphetamine.

30 Sept 2026 Sgt. Painter was on patrol in Belpre Township when he observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.  Radar revealed the vehicle was operating at 81 mph in a 60 mph zone.  A traffic stop was conducted and Jeremiah W. Wilson, age, 1381 Jewell Hill Road, St. Mary’s, WV, was issued a citation for speed.

1 Oct 2026 Deputy Gerber was patrolling the 12000 block of State Route 339, when he observed a green Ford Ranger bearing Ohio registration commit a marked lanes violation.  The vehicle was also seen to have an obstructed registration.  The traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Ronald L. Maffin, 16531 SR 339, Waterford, OH.  Maffin became very angry regarding the stop, and appeared nervous and changed the topic of conversation.  While Maffin was being instructed on what to do before Deputy Davis utilized K9 Ivar, he confessed to having a meth pipe in his possession.  Maffin also handed Deputy Gerber a clear glass smoking device with residue in it. Ronald L. Maffin, 16531 SR 339, Waterford, OH, was issued a citation for driving without a valid driver’s license, and a summons was issued for possession of drug paraphernalia.

2 Oct 2026 Deputy Bush was on routine patrol in the area of Walnut Street, Blennerhassett Township, when he observed a vehicle with Ohio registration. Upon conducting a check of the registration, the owner of the vehicle was found to have an expired license.  A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was identified, along with the passenger, Angela Swiger.  In speaking with the two subjects, Deputy Bush noticed Swiger was nervous during the encounter.  A consent to search was requested and given by both occupants.  Both subjects exited the vehicle and both were searched.  Swiger refused to allow Deputy Wallace to go inside her pockets and kept patting her right pocket. A search of the vehicle was then conducted which resulted in a scale with residue being found in Swiger’s backpack. In searching Swiger a small baggie containing 2.5 grams tpw suspected methamphetamine was found, as well as a bubble located in her bra.  Swiger, 443 Marrtown Road, Parkersburg, WV, was arrested and charged with possession of drugs.  Swiger was transported to the Washington Cunty Jail.

2 Oct 2026 at the intersection of State Route 550 and State Route 339, Barlow Township,  Lt. Stillson observed a grey Toyota Tacoma bearing Ohio registration flee from a Deputy Sheriff after being told to pull over due to suspicion of OVI. The vehicle travelled south on SR 550 when they encountered the first Deputy in a marked cruiser.  The south bound lane was closed due to the Barlow Fair Parade being underway, and both State Routes were lined with people to include children and adults. The Toyota sped around the marked cruiser and uniformed Deputy heading towards the intersection of State Route 550 and State Route 339 where the second uniformed Deputy and marked cruiser were located.  The Toyota was being driven by Shawn Anthony Ferguson who was told to pull to the side of the road by the Deputy.  Ferguson did pull the vehicle to the side of the road and waited for a short time.  Lt. Stillson was watching at State Route 550 and Warrior Drive where he was directing traffic when he observed the Toyota speed off at a high rate of speed.  Just before this happened a request was made to the Highway Patrol to respond due to the odor of alcohol detected by the second Deputy when he spoke to Ferguson through the driver's side window.  Lt. Stillson followed the vehicle and completed a traffic stop at State Route 550 and McDonald Road. Ferguson was identified as the driver and only occupant. Lt. Stillson immediately detected the odor of intoxicating beverages, slurred speech, and lethargic movements.  Ferguson was asked to exit the vehicle and he was uneasy on his feet. Ferguson performed poorly on SFSTs offered to him. Shawn Anthony Ferguson, 3445 Meadows Street, Stockport, OH, was arrested and transported to the Belpre Police Department where he provided a BAC with the results being .164.  Ferguson was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to comply.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail from 2 Oct to 4 Oct 2026:

Angela Marie Swiger, age 48, Belpre, OH, possession of drugs, a felony.

Cody Montell Knotts, age 35, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Shawn Anthony Ferguson, age 34, Malta, OH, OVI alcohol, drug of abuse, or both, driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, both misdemeanors, and failure to comply with order or signal of PO elude or flee, a felony.

Tammy Renee Wallace, age 51, Marietta, OH, OVI alcohol, drug of abuse, or both, driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, no seatbelt and failure to control.
