31 Jul 2026 Lt. McConnell began an investigation in Marietta Township of a dog attacking subjects at the location.

1 Aug 2026 Deputy Moss was on patrol near the 100 block of Pike Street, Marietta, when he observed a Honda Pilot bearing WV registration, operating at 40 mph in a 35 mph zone.  A traffic stop was conducted with the driver, William Efaw, 1918 Club Drive, Washington, WV.  The registration displayed an expiration date of 6-1-2026, which the check confirmed.  Efaw was issued a citation for expired plates.

2 Aug 2026 Deputy Gerber was on patrol near Pike Street and Elmwood Avenue.  A Chevrolet Silverado with OH registration was observed failing to use a turn signal.  A traffic stop was initiated and the driver identified as Chad R. Parsons, 228 Pike Street, Marietta, OH. Parsons was found to be operating on a suspended license.  A citation was issued to Parsons on that charge.

2 Aug 2026 Deputy Gerber was on patrol near the intersection of Second Street and Church Street, Barlow Township, when he observed a white Chevrolet pick-up truck bearing Ohio registration fail to use a turn signal.  A cracked windshield, driver’s side, was observed that would have obstructed the driver’s view.  A traffic stop was initiated and the driver and passenger were identified.  Travis Jones (driver) was found to have multiple active warrants out of Athens County.  Jones was placed under arrest on those warrants and a search of Jones was conducted.  Deputy Gerber located a clear plastic baggie with 6 unprescribed suboxone strips, a red 1x1 baggie containing 0.22 grams tpw of suspected methamphetamine, a red 1x1 baggie with suspected methamphetamine residue, a clear plastic baggie and clear plastic container with suspected methamphetamine residue, and a clear plastic baggie containing 3.27 grams tpw of suspected methamphetamine were all found on Jones’ person.  A digital scale with suspected methamphetamine residue was located inside the vehicle.   Kaylyn Cottrell was outside the vehicle holding her handbag.  When asked for consent to search the bag, Cottrell gave consent.  Before the search began, Cottrell uttered there was meth in the bag which she got from Travis prior to interaction with law enforcement.  Also located in the handbag was a black plastic container with 7.27 grams tpw of suspected methamphetamine and a glass smoking device with methamphetamine residue. Cottrell advised this residue was meth she tried smoking prior to interaction with law enforcement.  Travis John Jones, age 47, 4200 Ellis Road, Coolville, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs 2 counts, and trafficking in drugs, along with the warrants out of Athens County, Ohio.  Kaylyn P Cottrell, age 34, 1940 SR 555, Little Hocking, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs.

2 Aug 2026 Deputy Tucker received information on a VW sedan out of West Virginia that had been involved in a shooting incident in Vienna, WV.  Deputies located the vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Fourth Street and Greene Street, Pioneer Township. The driver was identified as Jacob Thomas.  It was discovered during the traffic stop that Thomas was a person of interest in the shooting.  A warrant was received from the Magistrate of Wood County, WV, charging Jacob A. Thomas, 103 Walnut Drive, Waverly, WV, with one count of wanton endangerment.  Thomas was identified as the wanted person by name, DOB and SSN. Thomas was served a copy of his charges for fugitive from justice. 

3 Aug 2026, while on patrol near Main Street, Blennerhassett Township, Deputy Wallace observed a vehicle in the left turn lane to go into West Virginia.  The registration was unable to be read due to the plastic covering the temporary tag. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle proceeded across a lane of traffic, onto Washington Boulevard, and then turning right onto Walnut Street.  The vehicle continued on Walnut Street before stopping in front of 212 Walnut Street.  The driver identified himself as Christopher Burke and provided a date of birth.  Dispatch was asked for a photograph of Burke, as it did not appear that this subject was Christopher Burke.  The male advised he had no social media, no bank cards, no identification, did not spell his name correctly and did not know his social security number.  Christopher was asked to step from the vehicle.  K9 Mauser was deployed and indicated on the driver’s side rear door.  Deputy Moss located a plastic baggy tied in a knot with an unknown powder weighing 7.81 grams tpw and a pink unknown substance in foil weighing 3.10 grams in the driver’s side door. A burnt foil in the passenger side seat was found as well as a snorting straw in the passenger’s purse. Also in Tara Riggins’ purse was an identification card for the male, and his name was found to be Nicholas Burke. Dispatch advised an active warrant out of 4th Judicial Circuit Court Probation from West Virginia was on file for Nicholas Burke.  Nicholas Burke, lka: 2613 ½ Ninth Street, Parkersburg, WV, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail for possession of drugs, identity fraud, and fugitive from justice. Tara Nichole Riggins, age 41, 2111 Oakbrooke Place, Milford, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with drug paraphernalia and obstructing justice.

4 Aug 2026 Deputy Groves began an investigation into a dog attacking goat(s) and possibly other animals in Newport Township.

Cody James Engnes, age 32, Marietta, OH, vehicular homicide, a misdemeanor.

Robert Paul Tate, age 76, Belpre, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Dylan Lee Grayson, age 24, New Matamoras, OH, strangulation, a felony and domestic violence, a misdemeanor.

Darin Wayne Boley, age 54, Marietta, OH, OVI alcohol drug of abuse or both and driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs .08 of 1 grams or more but less than .17, both misdemeanors.

Joshua Allen-Ray McQuaide, age, Belpre, OH, speed, a misdemeanor.

Noah Davie Lane, age 20, Belpre, OH, OVI alcohol, drug of abuse or both, prohibitions alcohol under the age of 21 and marked lanes, all misdemeanors.

Sierah Louise Caldwell, age 24, Marietta, OH, obstructing official business, criminal trespass and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

Andrew Michael Previtera, age 21, New Martinsville, WV, OVI alcohol drug of abuse or both, driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs .08 of 1 grams or more but less than .17 and marked lanes, all misdemeanors.

Katia Carolina Rodriguez Perez, age 32, Lowell, OH, domestic violence, a misdemeanor.
