12 May 2025 Lt. Brown began an investigation into a scam via Facebook marketplace in purchasing/selling an item.

20 May 2025 at approximately 0102 hours Deputy Wallace responded to Smith Hill Road, Lawrence Township to a report of blaring music.  Music could be heard as Deputy Wallace approached the area, coming from the back yard.  Contact was made with Donald Metheney, the homeowner.  Metheney was advised that he would be receiving a citation for the unreasonable noise, under the disorderly conduct code.  Deputy Wallace was walking to the patrol vehicle with Metheney following close behind her yelling derogatory statements in reference to what to do with the ticket.  Deputy Wallace began filling out the citation on the hood of her patrol vehicle, however Metheney continued to yell at her so she sat in her cruiser to finish the paperwork.  Metheney then got into a truck and drove recklessly around the yard.  Metheney drove head on towards Deputy Wallace’s marked patrol vehicle with Deputy Wallace and her police canine inside, seemingly acting as if he was going to strike the cruiser with the truck.  Metheney was blowing the horn and would cut the wheel and go around the patrol vehicle.  An eminent risk of physical harm to Deputy Wallace and/or K9 Mauser was possible.  Metheney was yelling out the truck window while driving recklessly and revving up the truck around the yard and around the patrol vehicle.  This all occurred while Deputy Wallace was attempting to write the citation for disorderly conduct.  Metheney then exited the truck at which time Deputy Wallace, via PA system, advised Metheney to cease and desist his actions.  Metheney then went back into the house.  Metheney eventually came back outside and stated he wasn’t taking a ticket.  While still attempting to finish this citation, Metheney turned to go back inside his residence and he was advised he was being detained. Metheney was less than thrilled and began yelling at Deputy Wallace, stating she had no right to be on his property, stating to “hurry the ***** up” and other derogatory statements about her writing the citation.  Deputies responded to this area on May 11 and May 16 due to the loud noise.  Metheney stated he is playing loud music because his neighbor has a camera with audio and video that is watching him all the time.  Donald Eugene Metheney, Jr., age 52, 1117 Smith Hill Road, Marietta, OH, was charged with disorderly conduct, cease and desist, and obstructing official business.  Metheney was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
