17 May 2026 Deputy Huck was dispatched to DAV Road, Fearing Township, in reference to a possible domestic incident. It was reported that Ava Marie Westbrook was being violent with two individuals. Before deputies arrived they were notified of an active warrant for Westbrook. The victims fled the residence and were involved in a vehicle crash. Deputies learned that Westbrook began arguing with the victims and then threw a glass dish at one of the victims, striking them in the hand. The dish shattered and the other victim was cut with the shattered glass on the ankle and foot. The Fearing VFD arrived and administered aid. Ava Westbrook, Whipple, OH, was arrested on her warrant and was subsequently charged with 2 counts of domestic violence. Westbrook was transported to the Washington County Jail.
18 May 2026 at approximately 0330 hours Deputy Huck conducted a traffic stop in the area of Rathbone Road and Muskingum Drive, on a black Kia van bearing Ohio registration. Drew Maynard, a passenger in the vehicle was identified and an open-air sniff was conducted by a K9. The K9 gave a positive indication on the front passenger side door of the vehicle. A search began of the vehicle, locating a glass smoking device with a crystal-like residue inside, in a bag belonging to Drew Maynard. Maynard, age 33, 1112 Alexander Place, Fairmont, WV, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
19 May 2026 Deputy Gerber responded to Grandview Township regarding an unoccupied home under construction, being entered through the night and items were taken. A white male was observed on security footage walking into the building, searching through building materials. The male removed 4 tubes of Titebond Pro Grade caulk and left the building. The male was identified as Paul Willard Hendershot, 40 Fourth Street, New Matamoras, OH. A charge of breaking and entering was filed on Hendershot, and a warrant for his arrest is being requested.
20 May 2026 while on patrol on Washington Boulevard, Deputy Bush observed a vehicle bearing WV registration commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the occupants. Neither occupants were wearing seatbelts and Chloe Ellison was listed as a missing person. Upon Ellison exiting the vehicle a baggy was observed hanging out of her pocket, containing 2.16 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Ellison advised the baggy was hers and it contained methamphetamine. Ellison, 1221 Staunton Avenue, Parkersburg, WV, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs.
20 May 2026 Deputy Thornberry was running radar near the intersection of State Route 339 and Camp Hervida Road, Watertown Township. A red Toyota Tacoma bearing OH registration was observed traveling at a high rate of speed in the southbound lane of State Route 339, approaching the location of Deputy Thornberry. The vehicle was found to be travelling 72 mph in a posted 55 mph zone, which was confirmed by radar. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Dylan Tysinger, 103 Front Street, Philo, OH. A citation was issued to Tysinger for speed.
22 May 2026 at approximately 0307 hours Deputy Huck was dispatched to Masonic Park Road, Muskingum Township, regarding a fight between two roommates. Christian Noland and James Armstrong were said to be fighting and Armstrong received a cut on the back of his neck. The complainant stated he did not observe any of the fight. Devola VFD arrived on scene to administer aid. Christian Orla Ray Noland, age 32, and James Wesley Armstrong, age 21, 2074 Masonic Park Road, Marietta, OH, will both be summoned into Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of assault.
22 May 2026 Sgt. Huffer completed a private property crash report at 229 Fifth Street, Beverly, OH.
22 May 2026 Lt. McConnell responded to 10282 State Route 550, Dollar General, Barlow Township, in reference to an employee reporting a male by the last name of Huffman forcibly taking another employee, and headed towards Layman. While en route to that location a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle passed Lt. McConnell headed towards Barlow. Emergency lights were activated and Lt. McConnell began pursuing said vehicle. The suspect vehicle slowed in front of Dollar General for the female to exit. The female ran to the store and the suspect vehicle continued at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was pursued through the intersection of State Route 339/550. The pursuit continued north on State Route 550, however due to the way the suspect, later identified as Jared S. Huffman, was driving, the weather and traffic, Lt. McConnell slowed down. The vehicle turned onto Deming Road and Lt. McConnell ended the pursuit. Lt. McConnell patrolled the area and located the truck parked in a yard. The area was patrolled and several different locations were checked. Sgt. Ullom met with the victim who advised Huffman came to the store to talk to her and she willingly got into his truck to talk. Huffman requested the victim go with him to obtain some items however she would not. After refusing to allow the victim out of the vehicle, Huffman observed the patrol vehicle and returned to the area. Huffman told her to get out in front of the store. Jared S. Huffman, 1090 Anderson Road, Fleming, OH, was later located and placed under arrest. Huffman was charged with unlawful restraint and fleeing and eluding.
23 May 2026 deputies and the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to the scene of a deceased individual.

Briana Nichole Bateman, age 38, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.
Isaac Allen Dodd, age 25, felonious assault, a felony.
Jeffrey Edward Jones, age 62, Marietta, OH, possession of drugs, a felony, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
Michael Paul Hinton, Jr., age 54, Marietta, OH, criminal damaging and disorderly conduct/intoxicated create risk of harm, both misdemeanors.
Ethan Adam Ross, age 25, Marietta, OH, 2 counts domestic violence, both misdemeanors, and possession of drugs, a felony.
