29 Dec 2025 at approximately 1830 hours Washington County Jail personnel were processing inmates when inmate Kimberly Mutersbaugh knocked on the holding cell  door to get Lt. King’s attention.  Mutersbaugh was needing to show the officer something on a part of her body.  When approaching the cell Mutersbaugh attempted to step out of the cell and she was advised not to come out of the cell. Mutersbaugh then lifted her foot and asked Lt. King what an area on her foot was.  Mutersbaugh was advised to ask the medical staff when she saw them.  Mutersbaugh’s eyes become wide and she darted them towards the officer’s taser. Mutersbaugh made a quick motion as she grabbed the taser.  Lt. King took control of Mutersbaugh’s arm and attempted to gain control of her and secured back in the cell.  During the struggle Mutersbaugh continued to resist, stating “you won’t get me down.”  Mutersbaugh was able to be secured back in the cell and secured.  Assistance was given to Lt. King and Mutersbaugh was placed on the floor on her stomach. Mutersbaugh was asked why she would grab for the taser and she stated because she was withdrawing from suboxone. Mutersbaugh was given direct orders not to move until all officers exited her cell. Kimberly Irene Katherine Mutersbaugh, age 59, was charged with obstructing official business.   

1 Jan 2026 Deputy Talarico was dispatched to the ParMar gas station, 2889 SR 821, Muskingum Township, to a report of a possible physical altercation between a male and female in the parking lot.  The female had left the area and Deputy Talarico spoke with the male subject.  The female was identified as Traci Schwendeman.  Schwendeman had allegedly struck him with her fist on the top of his head.  Schwendeman had struck the male twice with the car door.  As the male walked to the business Schwendeman struck him in the back of the neck, then again pushing him in the back.  A warrant was requested and issued through Marietta Municipal Court for the arrest of Traci L. Schwendeman, age 53, 205 Bohl Drive, Marietta, OH, for assault. 

3 Jan 2026 at approximately 1121 hours Deputy Gerber was patrolling the 800 block of Pike Street near the intersection of County House Lane, Pioneer Township, when a grey in color Mitsubishi Outlander, bearing Ohio registration was observed traveling less than a safe distance to the vehicle in front of them.  The vehicle registration was checked and found to be Homer M. Fry, vehicle owner, who was found to have a suspended license. ​ A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Homer M. Fry, confirming he was suspended. A citation was issued to Fry, Wingett Run, OH, for driving under suspension. 

3 Jan 2026 Deputy Welch was on patrol  southbound on Pike Street, Pioneer Township.  A white Nissan bearing WV registration was observed with an expiration in 2025.  A check of the registration revealed nothing on file. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Joshua Gibson.  A paper registration was provided by Gibson, showing the proper WV registration. A check of that registration revealed it had expired in 2024. A verification of the VIN revealed the same as the paper registration.  A citation for fictitious registration and expired registration was issued to Gibson, 1119 16th Street, Parkersburg, WV.

4 Jan 2026 Deputy Bush was on routine patrol in the area of Greene Street and Third Street, Pioneer Township, ​when he observed a dark colored Chrysler 200 with Ohio license plate​, run a flashing red light at Third and Greene Street.  A traffic stop was initiated and upon approaching the vehicle a strong smell of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Keenan Hall, was found to be in possession of a lit blunt containing marijuana.  Hall was asked if he was smoking, and Hall explained he was smoking while driving and wasn’t aware it was a crime. When Hall was asked if he believed he was intoxicated, Hall stated he believed he was high from marijuana.  Deputy Bush requested Deputy Thornberry assist with the standard field sobriety tests.  Hall submitted to the field sobriety tests and performed poorly on all tests.  Keenan Dwayne Hall, age 24, Front Street, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and transported to Post 84 for a urine test, which he agreed to and submitted to.

Devon Nicole Coverdale, age 36, harassment by inmate and obstructing official business, both felonies.

Valerie Ann Wiley, age 42, Marietta, OH, possession of drugs, a felony.

Kevin Andrew Williams, age 38, New Matamoras, OH, possession of drugs, a felony.

James Dennis Rhodes, age 50, Newport, OH, trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs and probation violation, all felonies.

Bryce Franklin Roscoe, age 47, Rayland, OH, OVI, alcohol, drug of abuse or both, a misdemeanor.

Brian Lee Miller, age 60, Williamstown, WV, aggravated menacing and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

James Nemo Lee Croston, age 48, Chesterhill, OH, theft, a felony.

Devin Kingston Scott, age 26, Akron, OH, trafficking in drugs, 2 counts, possession of drugs, possession of fentanyl and having weapons while under disability, all felonies.

Russell Allen McCabe, age 58, Marietta, OH, trafficking in drugs, 2 counts, aggravated possession of drugs and possession of fentanyl, all felonies.

There are currently 26 females and 95 males incarcerated at the Washington County Jail.
