10 Nov 2025 Deputy Norris began an investigation into a bad check being passed to a business in Marietta Township.
12 Nov 2025 Deputy Bush began an investigation into a theft in Barlow Township of a mailbox.
13 Nov 2025 Deputy Davis was patrolling State Route 550 when he performed a registration check on a gold in color Chevrolet SUV bearing Ohio registration. The registration came back expired since December of 2024 on a gray Chevrolet. A traffic stop in Wesley Township was conducted and the driver was found to be Elizabeth A. Scheid. Scheid confirmed a suspended driver’s license and could not provide proof of insurance for the vehicle. A citation was issued to Scheid, 2346 State Route 550, Cutler, OH, for expired registration.
13 Nov 2025 Deputy Bush completed a private property accident report in Belpre Township where an individual struck a gas meter and fled the area.
15 Nov 2025 Deputy Tucker responded to complete a report regarding James Robert Schaefer, 1318 Elm Street, Cambridge, OH, violating a protection order in Washington County, Ohio. The protected party was in Washington County when they received information of a friend request on an app from Schaefer. A summons is being requested for Schaefer for violating a protection order.
14 Nov 2025 Deputy Norris began an investigation into a theft/financial scam of a large sum of money. This case remains under investigation.
14 Nov 20225 deputies along with the Reno Volunteer Fire Department personnel responded to the scene of a deceased individual.
14 Nov 2025 Deputy Jake Davis performed a traffic stop on a silver hatchback bearing OH registration for marked lanes and lanes of travel violations in the 1000 block of Clement Avenue, Belpre. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Daniel Snider. During the stop, narcotics detection K9 Ivar, was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle. K9 Ivar indicated the odor of narcotics near the driver door. Snider was asked if there was anything illegal on his person to which he admitted he was in possession of meth which was in his pants pocket. A small plastic tied-off baggie was removed from Snider’s pocket which contained a clear crystalline-like substance. The meth was seized and found to weigh approximately 2.63g total package weight. Daniel Ross Snider, age 54, 1424 Rector Road, Parkersburg, WV, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
14 Nov 2025 at 2227 hrs. Captain Hunter was dispatched to Interstate 77 near the 16-mile marker to a report of a reckless driver, who was all over the roadway. The driver was reported to have struck traffic barrels and was driving in the middle of the road. The suspect vehicle was described as a gold Nissan or Toyota car, with a bike rack, headed southbound. Captain Hunter sat stationary near the 8-mile marker when he witnessed a group of cars coming towards his location. Within that group of cars, a vehicle with a bike rack on the back was observed as it was illuminated by the headlights of a semi-truck behind it. The truck began flashing its lights between high and low beams. The suspect vehicle passed Captain Hunter’s location and Captain Hunter was able to follow that vehicle. A registration check was completed on the silver Volkswagen 4 door with West Virginia registration. The driver of the vehicle abruptly exited Interstate 77 at mile marker 6 and turned south on State Route 821, however failed to use the turn signal more than 100 feet prior to coming to a stop. A traffic stop was then conducted at the intersection of Arends Ridge Road and State Route 821, Muskingum Township. As Captain Hunter approached the vehicle he noticed two small juveniles in the back seat. The operator of the vehicle, William M. Sims, rolled down his window and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from the vehicle. Sims denied having anything to drink involving alcohol that night and stated he was headed to Dayton, Ohio, and was coming from Parkersburg, WV. Sims was advised to exit the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests. Sims was observed with glassy, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and was very unsteady on his feet. Sim’s speech was also extremely lethargic. Sims was then placed under arrest for suspicion of OVI and was transported to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Post 84 where he was shown and read BMV 2255 form. After agreeing to take the test, Sims was found to have a prohibited blood alcohol concentration of .214%BAC. William M. Sims, age 29, 1115 E. 12th Street, Parkersburg, WV, was then placed under arrest for OVI, child endangering and turn signal violation. Deputy Wallace assisted at the scene with contacting family member to take custody of the juvenile children.
14 Nov 2025 Sgt. Parks completed an Ohio Traffic Crash Report in Dunham Township where a subject struck a deer.

Garrett David Wichtermain, age 31, Waverly, WV, probation violation, a misdemeanor.
Michael Levi Gainer, age 26, Vienna, WV, probation violation, 2 counts, both misdemeanors.
Corbin Ryan Willett, age 18, Marietta, OH, endangering children, aggravated menacing and domestic violence, all misdemeanors, and tampering with evidence, a felony.
Corbin John Messinger, age 33, Columbus, OH, fictitious plates, failure to reinstate and expired plates, all misdemeanors.
There are currently 25 women and 105 men incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
