27 Feb 2026 detectives conducted a traffic stop on a 2021 Dodge ran bearing OH registration.  Contact was made with the driver, Joshua Clift, and passenger, Brandi Messick. K9 Timmy was deployed to conduct a free air sniff and positively indicated on the front passenger door.  During the search a bag holding Messick’s belongings ​also contained a baggie with suspected fentanyl, 1.13 grams, and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine​, 1.21 grams.  Loose on the floor was .21 grams of methamphetamine.  Brandi Rae Messick, age 31, 460 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of fentanyl, a 4th degree felony, and possession of methamphetamine, a 5th degree felony.  Joshua Okey Clift, age 42, 104 Vine Street, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine a 5th degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a 3rd degree felony.

27 Feb 2026 Deputies Wallace and Mays were dispatched to 1308 Williamson Avenue, New Matamoras, to a report that Joshua Hunter would not leave the apartment and was intoxicated. Contact was made with the complainant who stated Hunter had been drinking and made threats of serious harm to them.  Joshua L Hunter, age 47, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on a charge of domestic violence.  At the time of booking Hunter’s PBT was .179.  

27 Feb 2026 Deputies Mays and Wallace were patrolling the area of Grandview Township for a domestic violence suspect.  Upon arrival a​t the BP on State Route 7, a male took off running behind the business​ when officers exit​ed the vehicle. The male was asked who he was and he stated “Devan Wright” but then advised he was Paul Hendershot.  ​An active warrant was found to be on file for Paul Hendershot​ on a charge o​f domestic violence.  Hendershot, age 34, 40 Fourth Avenue, New Matamoras, OH, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on a charge of obstructing official business and ​the active warrant.

1 Mar 2026 Deputies along with the Beverly Waterford Squad responded to the scene of a deceased individual.  

1 Mar 2026 Deputy Gerber responded to Belpre Township in reference a report of a rolling domestic incident involving a Harold Brown.  The complainant and Brown were in WV and Brown became angry.  The argument enhanced between the two on the way to Ohio so the call for law enforcement was made. Also, during the argument Brown slapped the complainant with an open fist in the arm.  The individual continued to ask to be let out of the vehicle.  Brown then dropped the other party off at a residence.  ​Harold Ivan Brown, age 49, 1200 Cisler Drive, Marietta, OH, was located and was placed under arrest charged with domestic violence.  

1 Mar 2026 Deputy Bush recovered a counterfeit $100 from  a business in Marietta Township.

2 Mar 2026 Deputies along with the Salem Vol. Fire Dept. Squad responded to the scene of a deceased individual.  

2 Mar 2026 Deputy Tucker recovered a counterfeit $100 from a business in Muskingum Township.

2 Mar 2026 Deputy Pugh was dispatched to 5525 State Route 339, Hickory Grove Country Market, Dunham Township, regarding a customer stealing snacks from the store on February 24th, 2026.   Video footage revealed the subject taking 2 bags of Jeff’s Jerky and placing them in her purse, entering the bathroom and leaving a short time later.  No attempt to pay for the item(s) was made.  Additional video surveillance gave a more detailed description of the subject. ​Further investigation ​identified the suspect as Lacee Jay Butler.  A warrant was requested through Marietta Municipal Court for the arrest of Butler on a charge of theft, a 1st degree misdemeanor.  Butler’s last known address ​was Coolville, OH, however information revealed she was currently homeless.

5 Mar 2026 Deputy Gerber made contact with an individual who reported Ryan Matheny had violated an active protection order.  Matheny, who was incarcerated in the Washington County Jail, made a call to the protected parties on 2/28/2026 at 1511 hours and 03/01/2026 at 1955 hours.  A charge of violating a temporary protection order was filed on Ryan Graham Matheny, age 39, 15774 SR 550, Fleming, OH.

Paul Edward Dickinson, Jr., age 43, Zanesville, OH, tampering with evidence and possession of cocaine, both felonies.

Jacob Anthony Ddoson, age 31, Sandy Level, VA, trafficking in drugs, a felony.

Christopher Eugene Hooper, age 51, Marietta, OH, 2 counts probation violation, 1 felony and 1 misdemeanor.

Ashley Nicole Roush, age 35, Rockport, WV, OVI alcohol drug of abuse or both, driving in marked lanes or continuous lines of traffic, 2 counts of theft, all misdemeanors.

Miranda Leigh Hackathorn, age 34, criminal damaging 2 counts, disorderly conduct 2 counts, and theft, all misdemeanors.

Brandon Alexander Olah, age 41, Fleming, OH, making terroristic threats, a felony.

Shanea Marie Pryor, age 42, Parkersburg, WV, theft, a misdemeanor.

Caleb Joseph Anglin, age 22, Akron, OH, possession of fentanyl related compound, and trafficking in fentanyl related compound, both felonies.

Jason Matthew Rinehart, age 32, Malta, OH, breach of recognizance, domestic violence and contempt of court, all misdemeanors.

Paul Eugene Shreck, age 56, Montgomery, PA, open container, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination, and driving in marked lanes​.
