17 Jan 2026 Deputy Welch began an investigation in Belpre Township regarding vandalism to property.

18 Jan 2026 deputies along with members of the Beverly Waterford Squad responded to the scene of a deceased individual.

19 Jan 2026 Det. Peters was patrolling I​nterstate 77 near the 13 mile marker when he observed a red 4 door vehicle commit traffic violation(s).  A registration check was made, followed up with a traffic stop.  The driver was identified​ and found to be operating on an expired license.  Contact was made with ​a passenger, Donna Reed. The occupants were asked for proof of insurance and while waiting for this​ information K9 Timmy was deployed to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle.  K9 Timmy did give a positive indication on the rear passenger door.  Reed was asked to step from the vehicle​.  Reed was asked if she had anything illegal on her person, which she stated she did not. A folded-up piece of burnt foil​, which is commonly used to smoke narcotics, was located by the rear tire.  The other occupants then exited the vehicle while Reed was placed in the patrol vehicle and advised of her Miranda Rights.  Reed advised the foil had been wadded up by her and that is why it fell out when she exited the vehicle.  Reed advised she had other paraphernalia on her person​ and those items were taken as evidence.  Donna Sue Reed, age 51, 1062 Cloverhill Road, Raven, VA, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. After arriving at the Jail​, Reed was also found to have concealed a glass smoking device in her under garments.  Reed also was found to have concealed 25.57 grams of fentanyl inside her body.  In total, Reed was charged with trafficking in drugs, illegal conveyance of drugs, possessing drug abuse instruments and possession of drugs. 

19 Jan 2026 Deputy Tucker, while patrolling Interstate 77, observed a blue sedan bearing Ohio temporary registration commit a traffic violation at exit 6, State Route 821.  A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle in Muskingum Township.  The driver and passengers were identified.  The passenger​ was identified as Endiyah Malin Parham, age 30, 1151 Tarson Terrace, Akron, OH.  K9 Ozna was deployed and indicated on the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle a Ruger LCP 380 was located in ​the purse belonging to Parham.  The firearm was checked ​and found to be stolen out of Poland, OH.  Parham advised the firearm was purchased from eBay and ​she had no idea it was stolen.  Parham was placed under arrest and charged with receiving stolen property, and processed into the Washington County Jail.

20 Jan 2026 Sgt. Augenstein began an investigation into a possible theft from a bank account, Adams Township.

20 Jan 2026 Deputy Tucker began an investigation in Aurelius Township of a theft/scam from a bank account.

20 Jan 2026 Sgt. Parks began an investigation into ​the violation of a protection order. 

20 Jan 2026 Deputy Talarico was dispatched to Grandview Township in reference to a report that Charles Slonaker had struck the victim.  A loud argument had begun and Slonaker had struck the other party in the back of the head as they walked out of the room.  It was reported that in self-defense, the other party hit Slonaker, which led to a shoving match.  At that time Slonaker grabbed the victim’s throat and pushed​ the​m backwards. Slonaker again grabbed the victim by the throat, pinning them again​st a bed.  The victim was able to get free from Slonaker and leave the residence where 911 was then notified.  Attempts to locate Slonaker met with negative results.  A warrant was requested and issued through Marietta Municipal Court on Charles J. Slonaker, 502 ½ Broadway Avenue, New Matamoras, OH, on a charge of domestic violence and strangulation. 

21 Jan 2026 Deputy Gerber responded to Lowell, OH, to a home visit being conducted by Deputy Tullius.  A 4 year old child opened the door for officers, and an adult female was found asleep in ​a bedroom.  Attempts were made to identify the female, who was providing false information.  Numerous false names were given by the female.  The female​ eventually identified as Samantha Nicole Brown was found ​to have outstanding warrants out of Meigs County, OH.  Brown appeared to officers to be impaired and was questioned about her not waking up.  A consent to search was given for Brown’s property located near where she was sleeping.  Inside the bags were several items of drug paraphernalia along with a baggie with white powdery residue. Brown, age 37, 50610 Bigley Ridge Road, Long Bottom, OH, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail.  Brown was charged with obstructing official business and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.  Brown was also processed on two warrants, failure to comply and possession of drugs.  

21 Jan 2026 information was received that Roy James Campbell III, age 39, had been staying at a local hotel/motel with two minor children present for approximately two weeks.   According to the sex offender registration form, Roy James Campbell was convicted of corruption of a minor in 2011, parole violation in 2013, and failure to verify address in 2021, and is a Tier II Sex Offender.​ The registry lists Campbell’s address as 2955 Muskingum River Road, Lowell, Ohio.  29 Sept 2025 Campbell met with Deputy Sheaves and signed the aforementioned registration form acknowledging all his information was correct, and received a copy of his “Notice of Registration Duties of Sexually Oriented Offender.” The form reads that he has to give at least 20 days’ notice, prior to changing his residential address and no later than 3 days after.  21 Jan 2025 detectives met with Campbell who initially stated he had only been staying at the hotel for two days, but later changed his story to four days.  Another ​subject stated Campbell has been staying at the location for approximately the last two weeks. Campbell failed to notify the Washington County Sheriff’s Office of the change of his phone number and his new vehicle. These are additional violations to his sex offender registrations.  Campbell was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was charged with failure to give notice of residence address change, a felony of 3rd degree.

Kelvin Miguel Reyes Heuzo, age 35, Marietta, OH, OVI alcohol, drug of abuse or both, driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs .08 or 1 grams or more, both misdemeanors.

Jeffrey Grant Wayne Powers, age 35, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Scott Michael Zimmerman, age 46, Waterford, OH, OVI, drug of abuse or both, a misdemeanor.

James Lee Joy, age 61, New Matamoras, OH, no motorcycle endorsement, and unsafe vehicle, both misdemeanors.

Marlena Jean Lawson, age 30, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a felony.

Jason Remly Ware, age 42, Parkersburg, WV, parole violation and probation violation (Wood Co WV), both felonies, and OVI alcohol, drug of abuse or both (Hancock Co), a misdemeanor.

Bradley Matthew Gill, age 26, Waterford, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Christopher Lee Chafin, age 40, Huntington, WV, breach of recognizance, receiving stolen property, both felonies, 2 counts probation violation, both misdemeanors.

Gregory Allan Messer, age 64, Parkersburg, WV, obstructing official business, drug paraphernalia and driving under OVI suspension, all misdemeanors.
