Belpre, OH – Sheriff Warden reports that on 21 Aug 2026 Detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the Belpre Civitan Park, Blennerhassett Township. 

James Edward Beichler was interviewed and admitted to possessing child pornography.  The preliminary search of Beichler’s cell phone revealed child pornographic material, including the rape of prepubescent children. 

 Detectives obtained evidence that Beichler  commonly surreptitiously videos and photographs women and children in public. 

Beichler, age 77, address listed as homeless, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington Cunty Jail charged with pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, a 2nd degree felony. 

This investigation is ongoing at this time and further charges may be possible. If anyone has had any suspicious interactions with Beichler or information regarding Beichler and his offenses/actions please contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 740-373-6623 ext. 0.
