16 Oct 2025 Deputy Thornberry began an investigation into a theft of over $5,000.  This case remains under investigation.

16 Oct 2025 Deputy Bush was dispatched to Adams Township to a report of a subject riding a four wheeler, doing donuts on the road. 

17 Oct 2025 Deputies along with the Wesley Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene of a deceased individual. 

18 Oct 2025 Deputy Davis took possession of drugs/paraphernalia ​that was found.  

19 Oct 2025 Deputy Davis was traveling southbound on State Route 676 near Warren Chapel Road.  Deputy Davis observed a brown SUV traveling northbound in the oncoming lane of travel at a high rate of speed through a curve in the road. The SUV failed to negotiate the curve in its assigned lane of travel and traveled left of the marked center line, almost striking Deputy Davis’ patrol vehicle.  Deputy Davis swerved out of his lane of travel, causing his right wheels to exit the roadway in order to avoid a traffic collision.  Deputy Davis turned and caught ​up to the vehicle near the Dollar General​, SR 676, and performed a traffic stop on said vehicle.  The brown Ford SUV, bearing OH registration was operated by John G. Williams, 302 Putnam Avenue, Marietta, OH.  Williams was issued a citation for operating in willful or wanton disregard. 

20 Oct 2025 deputies responded to Warren Township, to a report of Joshua Sargent assaulting another individual.  It was reported that the victim and Sargent had been together earlier in the day in which Sargent became angry with the victim.  Sargent shoved the victim causing them to fall.  The victim attempted to leave the residence of Sargent, however Sargent would block the back and front door not allowing her to leave.  Eventually the victim was able to leave.  Contact was made with Sargent in which he confirmed the victim was at his home.  Sargent advised that he and the victim became involved in a little shoving match.  Sargent’s speech was very slurred and the odor of alcoholic beverage was omitting from his person.  Sargent admitted that he picked up a kitchen chair and smashed it on the ground as well as punching the refrigerator, which caused injury to his right hand.  Joshua Edward Gainer, age 40,​ 415 BF Goodrich Road, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint. 

21 Oct 2025 the Washington County Jail personnel were advised by dispatch that current inmate, Joshua David Chichester, age 39, 1444 Jesterville Road, Parkersburg, WV, had a warrant from the Magistrate Court of Wood County, WV, for driving while suspended for DUI third offense and failure to appear for sentencing. Past bookings were reviewed with the information obtained on the warrant finding them to be a match.  Chichester was charged with being a fugitive from justice.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail 27 Oct 2025 to 28 Oct 2025:

Gary Charles Harbison, age 38, Marietta, OH, loose dog, a misdemeanor.

Paula Marie Bailey, age 42, Marietta, OH, robbery, a felony, and domestic violence, a misdemeanor.

Hunter Lee Smith, age 28, Parkersburg, WV, aggravated possession of drugs, a felony.

Shaun William Crites, age 46, Parkersburg, WV, theft of motor vehicles, a felony.

Courtney Dawn Alden, age 45, Marietta, OH, probation violation, and three counts theft, all misdemeanors.

There are currently 23 women and 93 men incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
