17 Sept 2025 after completing an investigation, two inmates Kaylin Lynn Mobberly Connell, age 43, 201 Main Street, Lower Salem, OH, and Devon Nicole Coverdale, age 36, 2126 Vinton Avenue, Portsmouth, OH, were each charged with harassment by an inmate.
18 Sept 2025 Deputy Welch completed a private property accident report at White Oak Woods Drive, where a vehicle struck the building.
18 Sept 2025 Deputy Groves responded to State Route 7, Newport Township, for a dog at large complaint. It was reported that multiple dogs belonging to Paulette Bailey, Marietta, OH were loose. The property owner was able to secure three of the four dogs. Multiple attempts to contact Bailey met with no success. The dogs were then transported to HSOV for safekeeping. Later Deputy Groves made contact with Bailey and advised her of the issue. A summons is being requested for Bailey on a charge of failure to confine and/or restrain her dogs.
19 Sept 2025 Deputy Norris was dispatched to Fearing Township to a report of domestic violence. Joshua Fortney had left the residence prior to law enforcement arriving. Deputy Norris made contact with Fortney along the roadway and asked Fortney to speak with him. Fortney explained that nothing physical occurred, only verbal, and no threats were made. This is not what was reported to law enforcement. Law enforcement was advised that Fortney had choked a subject during the morning hours. Fortney was then detained until the victim could be met with. The victim was found to have red marks on her neck, consistent with what she had reported. Fortney had also shoved the victim against a door before placing his hands around her neck choking her. Joshua D. Fortney, Grub Road, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with strangulation and domestic violence. Fortney was transported to the Washington County Jail.
19 Sept 2025 Deputy Davis and Deputy Talarico were dispatched to Marietta Township to a report of a possible assault. It was reported that on the evening of 18 Sept 2025 Mark Britton showed up at a residence and the victim believed he was intoxicated. Britton stood up and began to scream at the victim, and make derogatory statements to her as well. The victim feared that Britton would strike her and backed away telling him to leave the residence. Britton continued yelling derogatory remarks at the victim during his exit from the residence, all the while throwing his arms around. Britton, age 67, 255 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, OH, was trespassed from the property by Deputy Talarico and a summons is being requested for his appearance in Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of disorderly conduct.
20 Sept 2025 Deputy Thornberry was dispatched to Belpre Township to a report of domestic violence. The caller was seated inside the garage upon law enforcement arriving with a visible injury. When asked what had occurred, the victim stated that an argument ensued with Andrea Howell. Andrea Howell, 3826 School House Road, Little Hocking, OH, was reported to have ripped the victim’s shirt and threw a space heater at him. After speaking with Howell, Deputy Thornberry placed her under arrest and charged her with domestic violence. Howell was processed into the Washington County Jail.
20 Sept 2025 Deputy Gerber began an investigation into child endangering. After completing the investigation it was determined to be unfounded.
21 Sept 2025 Deputy Gerber, Sgt. Augenstein and squad personnel with the Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene of a deceased individual.
21 Sept 2025 Deputy Harlow began an investigation into mischief done at a residence in Waterford Township. This case continues at this time.
21 Sept 2025 Deputy Talarico began an investigation in Belpre Township regarding a burglary. This case remains under investigation at this time.
22 Sept 2025 Deputy Pugh began an investigation in Waterford Township of a theft. This case remains under investigation at this time.
29 Sept 2025 Deputy Davis conducted a traffic stop on I77, Salem Township, after observing a traffic violation by the driver of a white Jeep Wrangler, operated by Bernard T. Clark, 12247 E. 111th Street, Cleveland, OH. Contact was made and Clark was found to have an active warrant on file. Also located were multiple cell phones, and a large amount of currency. Clark was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing on the warrant, along with a charge of complicity to drug trafficking.
6 Oct 2025 Lt. Hornbeck began conducting an investigation involving Brandon Alexander Olah, age 40, 13743 State Route 550, Fleming, Barlow Township, regarding activity from 6 Sept 2025 through 5 Oct 2025. Deputies have responded to this location 6 times with all of these calls for service basically beginning in the same manner. Olah was calling the Veterans Crisis Line, becoming belligerent with them, and making threats to harm himself. He also made threats to law enforcement if they came to his property. The calls then escalated to Olah calling 911, reaching the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. During those calls Olah states numerous times that if deputies arrive, he will “cut them in half with a sword” “he will cut them into pieces”, he will “blow their minds out”. During other calls Olah would state that he would “kill all the DRS and Nurse” if he is taken to a civilian hospital. Olah was also heard stating he was coming outside with a bat, so deputies would shoot him. A warrant was requested for Olah on a charge of making terroristic threats, and issued by Marietta Municipal Court. On 7 Oct 2025 deputies responded to 13743 State Route 550 and Brandon Olah was placed under arrest on the active warrant and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Trenten Gabriel Smith, age 24, Marietta, OH, fugitive from justice, a misdemeanor.
Brandon Alexander Olah, age 40, Fleming, OH, making terrorist threats, a felony.
Epiphany Alice Barnhouse, age 21, Coolville, OH, probation violation, a felony.
Shawn Seyler McClead, age 32, Belpre, OH, probation violation, a felony.
Morgan Kathleen McMeeken, age 36, Marietta, OH, animals at large, a misdemeanor.
Chasity Dawn Willey, age 49, Byesville, OH, misuse of credit cards, a misdemeanor, identity fraud and receiving stolen property, both felonies.
There are currently 23 women and 102 men incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
