5 Jul 2025 Deputy Welch responded to Dunham Township in reference to a dog owned by Jimmy Bauman biting a lady while they were running.  The victims were running along the road in front of 740 Short Brook Road in Belpre Township when a dog ran from that property and bit the one lady leaving a small laceration.   Deputy Welch spoke to Bauman who stated he saw his dog take off and chase after the two ladies.  Bauman stated that he did not see what transpired and only kept yelling for the dog to return home. The dog returned and Bauman observed the women keep running so he didn’t think much about it.  A summons is being requested for Jimmy L Bauman, on a charge of failure to restrain the dog.

6 Jul 2025 Deputy  Pugh began an investigation into a chainsaw, valued at $500, stolen from Waterford Township.  This case remains under investigation.

6 Jul 2025 Lt. C Tucker was made aware of an inmate at the Washington County Jail assaulting another inmate. Hannah Alyssa James-Rojas was observed delivering several strikes to the face and head of the victim. The victim did not respond to the assault. James-Rojas, age 26, 910 Neal Street, Parkersburg, WV, was charged with an assault.

6 Jul 2025 Deputy Thornberry was dispatched to Liberty Township to a domestic incident.  Contact was made with the victim who stated Michel Springer was arguing with them and eventually got mad and pulled a handgun out, cocked it, and told them that if they didn’t leave he would shoot them. The victim then left on foot to get to safety.  Deputy Thornberry met with Springer and asked him what had occurred prior to law enforcement arriving.  Springer advised he was in an argument with the victim.  Springer stated it escalated to the point where he did grab a gun and hold it on his lap because he thought that there was going to be family come to the location.  Springer showed Deputy Thornberry the 9mm handgun that he retrieved during the argument, which matched the description of the handgun reported.  Michael E. Springer, age 47, 206 Upper Fifteenmile Creek Road, Wingett Run, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence.       

6 Jul 2025 while on stationary patrol Deputy Wallace observed a vehicle pull off the roadway and a female exit the vehicle, extremely upset and crying.  The female stated Andrew Porter was following her and that he had assaulted her.  It was also reported that Porter had taken her phone after attempting to break it.  Porter was reported to have taken a lighter and attempted to light a couch on fire, to burn the house down. Sgt. Stillson located the vehicle in Pioneer Township and obtained a search warrant for this residence where Porter was taken into custody.  Porter denied any physical abuse.  Andrew Keith Porter, age 36, 545 Stapf Road, Waterford, OH, was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail for domestic violence, strangulation and disrupting public service.

Larry Manule Defrietas, age 53, Parkersburg, WV, trafficking in a fentanyl related compound, aggravated possession of a fentanyl related compound, 2 counts, all felonies.

Todd Joseph Rice, age 54, Reedsville, OH, speed, a misdemeanor.

Heather Ann Corbin, age 26, Belpre, OH, grand theft, a felony.

Cheryl Renee Naylor, age 42, Parkersburg, WV, possession of drugs and aggravated possession of a fentanyl related compound, both felonies.

Hunter Lee Smith, age 28, Parkersburg, WV, possession of drugs, a felony.

Halee Ann Bigler, age 20, Marietta, OH, falsification-purpose to incriminate another, a misdemeanor.

Julie Marlina Hess, age 47, Marietta, OH, cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor.

There are currently 24 women and 90 men incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
