26 Aug 2026 Deputy Huck began an investigation into a menacing complaint in Marietta Township.

28 Aug 2026 Deputy Gerber was dispatched to Wesley Township to a subject in a blue Ford F-150 almost hitting children getting on the school bus.  The vehicle was parked at the ParMar and they believed the male subject to be impaired. Contact was made with the male, Nathan Davis, who was found to have a suspended license.  Davis appeared very nervous, talking at a fast pace and making quick movements. Davis would not stop attempting to mess with things on his truck, explaining himself over and over, and providing several stories as to why he was parked there. Davis was asked about the incident with the children.  Davis advised he was driving on the roadway at one point, before he parked his truck at the gas station. Davis was reminded that his license was suspended. A consent to search was requested and given of the vehicle.  Davis asked to smoke a cigarette, at which time Deputy Gerber advised he could and that he would get them for him. Davis then took it upon himself to go to the passenger side of his vehicle and acted as if he was grabbing a shirt to put on. Davis was observed attempting to conceal an item. Davis was detained and placed in the back of the patrol car.  While searching the vehicle, a flashlight with a plastic straw with residue and .45 grams of suspected fentanyl was located.  In searching the bed of the truck, located in a small hole was a Starburst candy wrapper. The wrapper was  retrieved and upon unwrapping the candy wrapper, a clear plastic baggie containing 1.93 grams of suspected methamphetamine was located. Nathan Wayne Davis, age 39, 263 Linton Hill Road, Coolville, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs. 

On 28 Aug 2026 at 2203 hours Deputy Moss responded to Rake Cemetery Rd and State Route 26 to a possible physical altercation between a male and female. Prior to arrival, Deputy Moss was diverted to Newport as the female had separated from the male.  Contact was made with Lindsey Linton at 75 Harris Street, Newport, OH.  Linton advised she was in an altercation with a male subject.  Linton stated during the altercation the male attempted to leave and she got behind his truck to stop him from leaving. The male was reported to have backed his truck up, striking her. Linton stated she jumped up and got on the truck and then the male got out and threw her to the ground, then leaving.  Linton stated she followed him on State Route 26, passing him to get in front of him where they stopped at the intersection of 15 Mile Creek Road.  Linton went on to state that she blocked the roadway once in front of him preventing him from leaving. She stated at this time the male struck her vehicle multiple times.  She then attempted to get out of the roadway and struck his vehicle as well. Linton stated she got out of her vehicle and attempted to speak with the male, in which she reached in the driver’s side window and grabbed ahold of his shirt as he took off in his vehicle and left the area. Deputy Moss spoke with the male subject, showing his stretched and ripped shirt, along with scratches to his arm.  The male also showed a video of the incident, reporting that Linton jumped on the rear of his truck when he first went to leave his residence, struck his vehicle multiple times after blocking the road on SR 26, and reached in his vehicle and attacked him, grabbing onto his shirt and scratching it.  After reviewing the evidence and conducting the investigation it was determined by Deputy Moss that Lindsey Linton would be cited with disorderly conduct. 

29 Aug 2026 Deputy K Bush responded to 1369 Tick Hill Road, Waterford Township, in reference to a fight that had occurred. Contact was made with Janet Carpenter who stated a male subject and a girl by the name of Nichole had just been at the residence and a fight had occurred. Janet stated she approached Nichole about removing her child from the roadway due to her landlord trying to leave. Janet stated Nichole became enraged about her telling her what to do with her child, and got in her face and started poking her. Janet stated she then pushed Nichole back from her at which time Nichole swung on her, causing a fight to ensue. All subjects had left prior to Deputy Bush arriving.  A request was made for a Morgan County Deputy Sheriff to attempt to locate an individual in Malta Township.  Contact was made and after completing the investigation it was determined that both Nichole L. Taylor, age 25, Zanesville, OH, and Janet Carpenter, age 34, Lowell, OH, would be summoned into court on a charge of disorderly conduct.

James Carl Cox, age 54, Belpre, OH, domestic violence, a misdemeanor.

Brittany Dawn Lane, age 40, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Jesse Wayne Hurst, age 24, Marietta, OH, disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Michael Jay Burrell, age 55, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Shawn Randall Britton, age 37, Marietta, OH, contempt of court, a misdemeanor. 

Anthony Elswick, age 39, Bethany, WV, driving while texting, a misdemeanor.

Anthony Ray Nichols II, age 44, Marietta, OH, parole violation, a felony.

Kasandra Lynn Prater, age 29, Williamson, WV, possession of a fentanyl related compound, trafficking in a fentanyl related compound, illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse and tampering with evidence, all felonies.

Joseph Hai Bui, age 48, Grove City, OH, contempt of court (failure to appear).
