26 Aug 2026 while on patrol Deputy Wallace observed a vehicle bearing WV registration which was not illuminated by plate lights. A traffic stop was initiated with lights and sirens at Clement Avenue,  however the vehicle continued traveling, changed lanes and turned left onto Braun Road, Blennerhassett Township, before coming to a stop.  Contact was made with the sole occupant, Shelley Akita, who was visibly nervous, had pin point pupils and was talking so fast she was slurring her speech. Akita was asked if she had any firearms or narcotics inside the vehicle and she stated no. Akita advised Deputy Moss she had recently been charged with possession of drugs.  Akita was asked if a search could be done of her vehicle and she gave consent.  As Deputy Wallace proceeded to pat down Akita, she began tugging at her sweatshirt and was shoving in a downward motion on her pants.  Akita then withdrew her consent to search her vehicle.  K9 Mauser was deployed and he indicated on the driver’s side of the vehicle.  Another pat down of Akita was conducted and Akita was very uncooperative, shifting her right hip inward and denied a search of her person. Paraphernalia (snorting straw and foil) was located inside the vehicle.  Akita continued with shifting her right hip inward and at one point stated she urinated on herself.  A hair clip that was holding closed a baggy containing suspected methamphetamine weighing 0.49 grams tpw was located in her jean pocket.  Standard field sobriety tests were completed, in which Akita performed poorly on those.  Shelley B. Akita, age 46, 2307 10th Avenue, Parkersburg, WV, was transported to the Washington County Jail for a urine sample.  Akita was charged with possession of drugs, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing official business, and processed into the Washington County Jail.

26 Aug 2026 deputies along with the Warren Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene of a deceased individual.

27 Aug 2026 Deputy Huck began an investigation into possible menacing incident.

27 Aug 2026 Deputy Thornberry began an investigation into a vehicle part that was to be replaced however was found to not have been replaced therefore possibly theft by deception for over $1,500.00.

28 Aug 2026 at approximately 0032 hours Deputy Huck observed a white Chevy Suburban bearing West Virginia registration travelling westbound in the 700 block of Pike Street. After conducting a registration check, it was found to be expired.  A traffic stop was initiated and upon approaching the vehicle, the operator was identified as Liam Rubart. Rubart stated he didn’t have a valid license, which dispatch confirmed he was under a non-compliance suspension through Ohio. Rubart also held a license in Virginia, but it was also suspended. Liam Ashton Rubart, 7 Whispering Oaks, Parkersburg, WV, was issued a citation for non-compliance suspension.
