21 Aug 2026 at 0001 hrs. Deputy Moss responded to 905 Parr Hill Rd, Grandview Township to conduct a welfare check on a male by the name of Lindsey Ray Adkins. While en route to the residence, Deputy Moss was advised that Adkins had prior interactions with our agency. Once on the porch of the residence, the door was noted to be open and several empty beer cans were in the area. Deputies knocked at the door announcing their presence to attempt contact with the occupants. A male subject was heard responding and permission to enter was requested and granted. A male was observed, identified as Lindsey Adkins, seated on the couch with a shotgun next to him and his right hand near/in he vicinity of the barrel. Adkins was quickly given orders to show his hands and not to make any furtive movements. The shotgun was retrieved and found to be loaded with multiple shells, including one in the chamber. The shotgun was unloaded and secured. While speaking with Adkins, he advised he was dealing with some things. Adkins’ eyes were bloodshot/glassy and he smelled very strong of the odor of an alcoholic beverage. His speech was highly slurred also. There were more empty beer cans inside the residence. Adkins, 905 Parr Hill Road, New Matamoras, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with having weapons while intoxicated.
21 Aug 2026 deputies along with members of the Little Hocking VFD conducted a welfare check and provided medical attention to a subject in need.
21 August 2026 at 1343 hrs. Deputy Thornberry conducted a traffic stop near the 27000 block of State Route 7, Marietta Township, on a blue Jeep bearing OH registration, which was operating recklessly. The driver, Seth Venham, appeared to be nervous, making erratic movements and having a hard time sitting still. Venham was asked to step out of the vehicle, and asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. Venham stated there was not and a consent to search his person was given. Located in a pocket of Venham’s pants was a black case with drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine inside. Venham was detained and advised that deputies would now be searching his vehicle. Seth Venham, 1060 Sugar Run Road, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
21 August 2026 at approximately 1805 hrs. Deputy Huck was dispatched to Dunham Township, to a report of a possible domestic incident between siblings. After completing the investigation, it was determined that the male juvenile would be charged with domestic violence and transported to the juvenile center.
23 August 2026 at approximately 0032 hrs. Deputy McElroy was conducting mobile traffic control, in a marked cruiser, traveling northbound on Fourth Street, nearing the intersection of Butler Street, Pioneer Township. Deputy McElroy observed a black 2018 Cadillac ATS, bearing Ohio registration traveling eastbound on Butler Street, fail to stop for the posted stop sign without even an attempt to slow. Contact was made with the operator, identified as Michael Lee Ward. Ward had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and he was heavily slurring his words. During the SFSTs Ward exhibited 6 out of 6 clues, including Vertical Gaze Nystagmus during HGN but other tests were stopped for his safety. Ward was placed under arrest for OVI and transported to the Marietta PD where he refused the breath test. Ward, 37258 Bells Run Road, Newport, OH, was taken to the Washington County Jail charged with OVI and stop sign violations.
23 Aug 2026 deputies along with the New Matamoras Squad responded to give aid to a subject needing medical attention.
23 Aug 2026 Deputy Mays responded to a theft/trespassing complaint where gasoline was stolen from vehicles in Fairfield Township.
