16 Jun 2026 the Magistrate Court of Wood County, WV, issued a warrant for the arrest of Sony Carlos Love for charges of which occurred on May 30, 2026: breaking and entering non-residence; grand larceny; and willful and intentional removal, injury to or destruction of property loss of $2500 or more.  The location for Love was listed as 15905 State Route 821, Macksburg, Ohio.  The warrant listed identifiers including a date of birth, social security number, and an Ohio driver’s license number which all match those of Sony Carlos Love, age 44. 17 Jun 2026 Sony Carlos Love was located at the above listed residence, arrested on the WV warrant and transported to the Washington County Jail. Love was further charged with being a fugitive from justice by Detective Schwendeman.

17 Jun 2026 Deputy Huck was travelling westbound in the 100 block of Pike Street, Pioneer Township. A white Nissan Altima bearing Ohio registration was observed to pass his location without headlights or taillights in operation.  A traffic stop was conducted and the driver found to be Cary McHenry.  It was confirmed that McHenry  was driving under suspension with multiple suspensions with the most recent being a non-compliance suspension.  A citation was issued to Cary Lee McHenry, 823 Graham Avenue, Cambridge, OH, for driving under a non-compliance suspension.

17 Jun 2026 Deputy Bush responded to Newport Township in reference to an unruly juvenile.  The juvenile was reported to be out of control, destroying items at the property.  It was determined that charges for being unruly are going to be requested through the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

18 Jun 2026 at approximately 0011 hours Deputy Huck was dispatched to 204 Ferry Street, Waterford Township, to a reported active domestic dispute between Daniel Bond and Ceaira Hutchins. Deputy Huck met with Hutchins who stated the two were in an argument over marital property.  She states that Bond took her purse and when she attempted to get it back, Bond pushed her against the door.  Bond admitted to grabbing her and moving her away from the door.  Later on it was stated that they were also in a shoving match.  No injuries were sustained by either subject.  A summons for disorderly conduct is being requested for Daniel Thomas Bond, age 35, and Ceaira Sue Hutchins, age 34.

18 Jun 2026 Deputy Wallace, Deputy Huck and the Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department responded to 1098 Clement Avenue, Belpre, OH, to a report of three vehicles on fire. 

18 Jun 2026 Deputy Thornberry began an investigation into fraudulent checks that were passed through a citizen’s account.

18 Jun 2026 Deputy Groves received a message that two dogs were running loose near the intersection of Brackenridge Road and Barret South Road, Barlow Township.  Once in the area Deputy Groves observed the two dogs on property on Barret South Road.  One dog was captured and through the dog tags it was found that the owner was Mistie M. Bartlett, 1480 Brackenridge Road, Vincent, OH.  Bartlett was contacted and she responded to the location and retrieved her dogs.  Bartlett was advised that charges would be filed for failure to restrain her dog due to previously receiving a warning for dogs at large on June 4, 2026.

20 Jun 2026 Lt. Hornbeck responded to McDonald Road, Barlow Township, in reference to the theft of a child’s drone.  Lt. Hornbeck met with individuals reporting the child was on the porch attempting to fly the small drone.  They reported the drone flew out of control and landed in the neighbor’s yard.  The drone was retrieved by the neighbor and not returned to the owners.  Multiple attempts were made to retrieve the drone, however Michael P Steinbeck only replied by text that they were trespassing on his property and were not getting back their “spy” drone. Contact was attempted by the Sheriff’s Office to retrieve the drone from Steinbeck, and he fled into the residence and would not respond.  A warrant is being requested for Michael Perry Steinbeck, age 44, 2280 McDonald Road, Vincent, OH, on a charge of theft.  

20 Jun 2026 Deputy Davis conducted a traffic stop on a black pickup truck bearing Ohio registration at 736 Greene Street, Marietta, OH.  The vehicle was registered to Chad R. Carpenter, 560 Rummer Road, Marietta, OH.  Carpenter had made an illegal left hand turn onto Greene Street.  Narcotics detection K9 Ivar was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle and indicated to the odor of narcotics near the front passenger door.  During the search of the vehicle a glass pipe containing suspected meth residue was located.  Deputy Gerber also located a plastic container with suspected meth residue, and a loaded Springfield 9mm handgun in a gun case. After locating the paraphernalia, both occupants were detained and read their Miranda Rights.  When asked about the pipe, Carpenter stated it was his and that he uses meth.   Carpenter stated the handgun belonged to a friend and he was returning it to him. Chad R. Carpenter, age 108, Maple Shade Drive, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and having weapons while under disability.

20 Jun 2026 Deputy Wallace was dispatched to Lowell, OH, in reference to a domestic incident.  It was reported that Brent G. Farmer had placed his hands on the victims in the investigation.  The first victim was grabbed by Farmer by the neckline of their shirt, pushing them away and then jerking them forward.  This incident occurred on 19 Jun 2026.  The second victim stated that Farmer got onto a four wheeler and began chasing them at a high rate of speed while holding a wooden handle in his hand.  Farmer then crashed the four wheeler into a camper and the victim was able to leave the area.  Farmer, age 50, 14750 Waterford Road, Waterford, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence and child endangering.

21 Jun 2026 Deputy Gerber was patrolling near the 100 block of Greene Street, Pioneer Township, when he observed a 2011 grey Kia Soul bearing Ohio registration fail to use a right turn signal when changing from the left lane to the right lane. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was identified, as well as the passenger, Dawn W. Luke.  Consent to search the vehicle was obtained.  A broken glass smoking device with residue on it, and residual meth was located throughout the center console.  Deputy Gerber spoke with Luke due to her odd behavior by fidgeting with her left pant leg as if she was holding something stationary.  A round object was observed protruding from her pants, and upon touching this object Deputy Gerber immediately recognized it to be a glass smoking device. Luke was asked if she possessed any other items of contraband, with her stating no, and nodding her head yes.  When asked about the answer, she eventually told Deputies she had meth in her pants. Luke retrieved the meth from her crotch area, from under her pants, in a metal container, containing 3.07 grams of suspected meth.  Dawn Luke, 321 Main Street, Lower Salem, OH, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with possession of a controlled substance.
