8 Apr 2026 Deputy Wallace initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle bearing WV registration on Washington Boulevard, Blennerhassett Township, due to the registration not being associated with any vehicles. Contact was made with occupants Cecil Schultheisz and Mark Lowers. Schultheisz gave consent to search the vehicle and was removed from the vehicle. Directly in front of Lowers, on the dash, were two knives within reach of Lowers. Deputy Bush completed a pat down and consent search of Schultheisz and a 1x1 baggy with what appeared to be a stamp of suspected drugs, and an additional strip of stamps of suspected drugs were located. Lowers did not consent to a search, however he was advised he would be patted down for weapons. Lowers stated we could pat him down for weapons however he had both hands in a fist and was tense. Due to Lowers’ nervousness he was asked to put his hands behind his back. Lowers resisted officers and kept his arms tucked in, almost crossing them at one point. A brief struggle ensued and Lowers was placed in handcuffs and a pat down search was conducted. Deputy Bush located 6.70 grams of suspected methamphetamine in Lowers jean pocket that he was attempting to conceal on his person. During the search of the vehicle 1.37 grams of suspected methamphetamine was located in between the driver’s seat and the center console. Cecil Edward Schultheisz, age 50, 3125 Newbury Road, Little Hocking, OH, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. Mark Andrew Lowers, age 33, 3761 Bell Road, Vincent, OH, was transported to the Washington County Jail charged with possession of drugs and tampering with evidence, both felonies of the third degree, and obstructing official business, a misdemeanor.
10 Apr 2026 Sgt. Huffer began an investigation into storage buildings being entered in Marietta Township. Items of value were removed from the unit(s).
10 Apr 2026 Deputy Wallace was dispatched to the Reno Motel, State Route 7, Marietta Township, regarding a call made to the Ohio State Patrol that a male and female were arguing and the male left. Deputy Wallace met with a female who described a male subject who drives into the parking lot fast and revs up his engine. The female stated she was yelling at him to slow down because of children residing in the area. She advised he stopped and got out of his vehicle, walked up to her, exchanged a few words and then hit her in the arm, then hurriedly driving away. Witnesses corroborated the incident as described. A suspect was developed, naming Austin Rose as the individual. Contact was made at his residence where Rose appeared to be intoxicated as he was slurring his speech while speaking. Rose admitted to the verbal altercation, but denied hitting the female. Austin Wesley Rose, age 26, 27335 SR 7, Marietta, OH, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail for assault.
11 Apr 2026 Deputies responded to Dollar General, 336 Orchard Drive, Belpre Township, regarding a male and female inside that appeared to be intoxicated. A vehicle description was given and was located at the side of the store. Lt. McConnell made contact with the driver, Shawn Littleton, and passenger, Misty Caldwell, inside the vehicle. Both occupants were asked to step from the vehicle. Both subjects appeared to be under the influence of something as they were fidgety and unable to stand still. Caldwell was asked for a consent to search her person, which she acknowledged Deputy Wallace could get into her pockets. A cylinder container with suspected methamphetamine was located, weighing 0.25grams. Both subjects were asked if there was any other narcotics inside the vehicle and they both advised there was not. Deputy Wallace then located a cigarette pack with a piece of foil folded containing suspected Fentanyl weighing, 0.86 grams. Both subjects were advised about conveying charges if they have anything on their person once they enter the jail. Both stated they did not. Shawn C. Littleton, 5099 Wildman Road, Coolville, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs. Upon beginning the processing of Caldwell, jail personnel located a glass smoking device inside Caldwell’s bra. Misty L. Caldwell, age 48, 3645 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, OH, was charged with possession of drugs and conveyance into a detention facility.
12 Apr 2026 while on patrol on Briggs Hill Road at State Route 7, Dunham Township, deputies observed a vehicle parked off the roadway in the grassy area, facing northbound in the southbound lane of travel. The vehicle was in-between the lane of travel and the railroad tracks. Deputies observed a black hoodie, a vape and the remainders of vomit on the roadway. The vehicle was occupied by the registered owner, Jacob Sparks, who was passed out in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was turned off, and the keys were in Sparks’ pocket. Sparks could not remember how he got there or where he drank alcohol at, however he was extremely intoxicated. Sparks was asked to perform SFSTs, however he was very unsteady on his feet, almost falling over numerous times, and was unable to complete these tests safely. Sparks was transported to OSP for a BAC test, with the results being .178. Jacob T. Sparks, age 24, 4856 Stillwell Road, Davisville, WV, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with OVI Physical Control.
12 Apr 2026 Deputy Wallace completed an accident report on Brownrigg Road, where a vehicle struck an electric pole.
