​​3 Apr 2026 Lt. Augenstein recovered firearms per a court order.  Those firearms are being held for safekeeping.

3 Apr 2026 Deputy Huck was dispatched to Fearing Township to investigate the theft of a safe and contents.  This investigation is ongoing at this time.

4 Apr 2026 deputies along with the Reno Volunteer Squad responded to the scene of a deceased individual.

4 Apr 2026 Lt. Augenstein began an investigation into a trespassing complaint in Palmer Township.  Lt. Augenstein met with Kyle West and three other individuals loading items from the residence into a vehicle. West explained that the property was his, left to him from a relative.  He stated that they were collecting property from inside the residence.  West was advised that the executor of the estate had called and he, West, was not to be there. West was further advised that he had been told three to four weeks ago not to be at the property.   ​Deputies and the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived ​to assist.  West was detained in handcuffs and placed in a patrol vehicle for further investigation.​  It was determined that West had shouldered the back door open to make entry into the residence, with the fresh damage to the door being visible.  All of the items removed from the residence and loaded into the vehicle were unloaded and placed on the​ property.  It was determined that Kyle Dalton West, age 28, 1135 Richey Road, Zanesville, OH, was going to be placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail.  Deputy Gainer approached West in the patrol vehicle and asked him to step out of the vehicle so he could complete a search.  Upon trying to place West back in the car, ​he became belligerent, screaming and carrying on while refusing to put his feet in the car, preventing the door from being shut.  West continued his behavior, kicking the doors, moving his handcuffs and ultimately slamming his head into the window bars and safety partition, causing a laceration to his forehead.   The Wesley Township VFD was called to the scene to offer medical attention and transport ​West to the hospital before transport​ing him to the County Jail.  Once medically cleared and upon Deputy Gainer’s arrival at the jail, West was advised in regards to taking drugs or weapons into the jail. Once inside the booking hallway, a bag of methamphetamine fell out of his pant leg onto the floor. West did acknowledge the methamphetamine and had told Deputy Gainer at the hospital prior to this that he’d used/consumed meth earlier this morning. The bag of methamphetamine weighted .88grams.  West was charged with breaking and entering, theft, obstructing official business, possession of drugs and conveyance into a detention facility.

4 Apr 2026 Deputy Thornberry conducted an investigation in reference to a theft in Waterford Township. 

4 Apr 2026 at approximately 2218 hrs. Deputy Huck was dispatched to Charles Street in Newport Township, in reference to a male subject, later identified as Braden Michael Rohl, walking in the area yelling and screaming. While en route, dispatch advised they received a 911 call from a citizen stating Rohl attempted to get into their residence. It was further advised that the citizen’s spouse had the subject detained outside of their residence.  Rohl was placed in the patrol car while Deputy Huck spoke with witnesses.  The witness stated that he was outside and Rohl was walking down the road. Rohl looked at the male and said to him, “Do you want to die.”  The witness did not reply and started to walk back into his residence.  Rohl then charged at the male and attempted to gain entry into the residence.  Rohl continued to ask “Do you want to die”, while attempting to gain entry.  The homeowner was able to detai​n Rohl until law enforcement arrived.  As a result, Braden Michael Rohl, 130 Charles Street, Newport, OH, was arrested for burglary, and aggravated menacing, and transported to the Washington County Jail.

6 Apr 2026 Sgt. Huffer and Deputy Davis responded to the area of King Ave. in Wesley Township in reference to Tammy Erac being nearby the property and having an active arrest warrant out of Washington, PA.  Contact was made with Erac who fit the physical descriptors listed on the warrant.  Erac provided the same date of birth as what showed on the warrant from Washington, PA. Booking photographs were also compared to Erac finding her to be the same individual wanted by the State of PA. Tammy R. Erac, 298 Festival Road, Washington, PA, was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice.

6 Apr 2026 Deputy Gerber responded to 310 Third Street, Adams Township, in regards to Connie Schau stealing a hedge trimmers out of a neighbor’s truck.  The victim provided camera footage from April 5th, 2026 at approximately 1058 hours, of Connie Schau taking the red in color hedge trimmers out of his truck bed.  Connie Schau was identified in this footage taking the trimmer out of the vehicle.  Schau then took the trimmers and began walking to her residence.  Connie S. Schau, 308 Third Street, Lowell, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with theft.

7 Apr 2026 Deputies assisted an individual with obtaining medical treatment.  Case is closed at this time. 

7 Apr 2026 Deputy Gerber was on patrol in the 400 block of Second Street, Marietta, OH, when ​he observed a silver 2002 Toyota Solara bearing Ohio registration pull into the Speedway of Second Street. The vehicle parked immediately​ upon observing the patrol vehicle.  The driver was acting suspicious in the number of times the vehicle moved and pulled into other parking areas​ and lots.  A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be Janice M. Lowe, who was operating on a suspended license through West Virginia.  Lowe was very erratic and did not want to cooperate.  Lowe was made aware of the reason for the encounter.  Lowe attempted to make several phone calls and ​was shaking.  Lowe asked to smoke a cigarette and was allowed.  When Lowe reached for her cigarette and lighter, she kept attempting to go through her bag for an extended period of time.  Lowe stated she could not find a lighter and had in fact, the lighter in her hand.  Det. Peters and K9 Timmy arrived and K9 Timmy was utilized to perform a free air sniff around the vehicle. K9 Timmy indicated the odor of narcotics on the passenger side door. A search of the vehicle was conducted and in Lowe’s bag 2.23 grams of suspected methamphetamine​ was located.  Also located was a smoking device with white residue and a scale.  ​Inside the vehicle 1.33 grams of suspected fentanyl​ was recovered.  Janice Michelle Lowe, age 46, 6564 New England Ridge Road. Washington, WV, was arrested and transported to Washington County Jail for possession of a controlled substance.
