17 Dec 2025 Deputy Gerber began an investigation into a storage building being entered and items removed in Muskingum Township.
17 Dec 2025 Deputy Pugh was dispatched to Veto Road, Dunham Township, to Jessica Brooks reporting Larry Swiger tore up her house and choked her. Swiger then left on foot. Deputy Pugh learned that a day’s long argument had progressed into a physical altercation where both parties were involved. After completing the investigation it was determined that Jessica Ann Brooks, age 44, and Larry Eugene Swiger, age 44, Veto Road, Belpre, OH, would both be summoned into court on a charge of disorderly conduct by fighting.
18 Dec 2025 Lt. Staats, while patrolling south in the 19000 block of SR 7, Warren Township, observed a white commercial box truck traveling at a speed higher than the posted speed limit of 60 mph. The vehicle was paced at speeds exceeding 75 mph. A traffic stop was initiated utilizing the emergency lights and siren, signaling the driver of the vehicle to stop. The vehicle continued south on SR 7. Near the 16000 block of SR 7 an Ohio Highway Patrolman was traveling north-bound and the vehicle slowed to 67 mph, then proceeded to accelerate back to 75 mph. The vehicle's registration was unreadable due to the way it was mounted on the truck. Lt. Staats continued his pursuit of the vehicle and at approximately Ayers Blvd., Dunham Township, the vehicle came to a shop. Assisted by Deputy Gainer and an Ohio State Patrol Trooper, the driver was instructed to exit the vehicle and he was taken into custody. Multiple traffic violations were observed during the pursuit which lasted for approximately 5 miles. The driver and only occupant was identified as Carl Fredrick Lanzer III, age 32, 2137 4th Street, Canton, OH. Lanzer was placed under arrest and charged with felony 4 failure to comply.
18 Dec 2025 Captain Hunter filed for a summons to be issued to Jason Staats, Braun Road, Belpre, OH, on a charge of trespassing. This originates with a complaint filed on 12 Dec 2025 by a property owner/neighbor. Investigation revealed Staats to be on the property of another.
