Waterford Man Arrested for Attempted Murder 2 Dec 2025

2 Dec 2025 Sheriff Warden reports that on 30 Nov 2025 deputies responded to a 911 call at 540 Main Street, Apt. B, Waterford Township.  This 911 call was to report Brendan Whiteford had stabbed an individual, who was being transported to a local hospital due stab wounds in the chest and legs.

Reports were that the victim and Whiteford had been involved in a mutual altercation.  The victim was then reported to have gone to a bedroom and locked the door while Whiteford remained in the kitchen. Whiteford retrieved a large kitchen knife and proceeded to bust the bedroom door open, stabbing the victim multiple times.  Whiteford was also overheard stating “I’ll kill you”, during the assault.   

Whiteford fled the scene and was located during a traffic stop in the area.  Whiteford refused to give a statement to detectives.  Whiteford also was found to have blood on him and showed signs of being in a physical altercation. 

Brendan Jamal Whiteford, age 31, 540 Main Street, Apt. B, Waterford, OH, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.  Whiteford was charged with  attempting to commit murder, a first degree felony, and felonious assault, a second degree felony.  Additional charges may be forthcoming.

Whiteford appeared in Marietta Municipal Court and is being held on $503,500 plus PR bond.
