A routine check of a probationer’s home today by Probation Officer Eric Brockmeier led to the discovery of heroin paraphernalia and ultimately to a large amount of heroin. Detectives and Agents of the Major Crimes Task Force subsequently obtained and executed a search warrant for the home of Corey Cowan, age 23, at 530 Millgate Road, Marietta. Inside the home, officers found syringes, two digital scales and a large box of sandwich bags, along with heroin that was packaged for sale and a larger chunk of heroin. In total, twenty-six grams of heroin were seized from the home. Also present at the residence were Jermaine S. Green, age 33, 1093 Beverly Avenue, Zanesville, and his brother, Jeremy B. Green, age 33, Tadpole Run Road, Belpre. Jeremy was recently released from federal probation and was arrested twice in Washington County for drug trafficking. In fact, he was en route to sentencing for a previous trafficking conviction when he was arrested again for drug trafficking. All three suspects admitted using heroin at the residence and acknowledged knowing the heroin was at the home. Consequently, the three suspects were arrested on a second degree felony charge of trafficking in heroin. All three suspects are being held without bond pending their initial court appearance tomorrow morning.
