On 25 Feb 14 Deputy Sheriff Hunter requested summonses for Nathan E. Britton, age 30, 200 Mile Run Road, Marietta, and his girlfriend, Gail A. Bayless, age 28, 101 Race Street, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by fighting. During an argument over their relationship at Ms. Bayless’ residence, Mr. Britton grabbed his girlfriend’s phone and attempted to find evidence of her cheating on him. A shoving match between the two followed, as each party wrestled for the phone. Both parties provided consistent statements and agreed that the incident did not escalate further. Mr. Britton agreed to stay elsewhere to avoid further problems.

On 25 Feb 14 Roger L. Hupp, age 70, 3881 Laurel Ridge Road, Lowell, reported his son, Steven Hupp, age 43, 108 Seneca Drive, Marietta, assaulted him that evening. Mr. Hupp said his son was intoxicated and out of control after being beaten up at a gentleman’s club in Parkersburg. The younger Hupp shoved his father to the floor on three occasions, causing him to suffer lacerations to his arms. Mr. Hupp stated his son also threatened to kill him during the dispute. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Hunter arrested Steven Hupp for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 25 Feb 14 William T. Klintworth, age 50, 2155 Hooppole Ridge Road, McConnelsville, reported he was involved in a brief altercation with his brother at the Waterford Marathon station. Mr. Klintworth said his brother confronted him for allegedly driving without a license and shut his hand in a car door. Mr. Klintworth’s brother stated he did not intentionally close the door on his brother’s hand and that no other physical violence took place. As a result, Deputy Sherriff McPeek closed this case as unfounded.
