On 20 Feb 14 the assistant principal at Barlow-Vincent Elementary School reported a concerned parent informed him that his son overheard a ten year old student threatening to shoot a teacher. Investigating the claim, Deputy Sheriff McPeek determined that two students were discussing shooting people on video games. The juveniles concurred that neither of the two mentioned shooting a teacher at the school. As a result, Deputy McPeek closed this case as unfounded.

On 20 Feb 14 Lt. Gherke issued a citation to Jimmy R. Waterman, age 31, 1045 Sandhill Road Lot 10, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license. Lt. Gherke stopped Mr. Waterman near the intersection of State Route 7 and Browns Road in Marietta Township.

On 20 Feb 14 Deputy Sheriff Hunter issued a citation to Rodney G. King, age 45, 90 Dye Street, Newport, for driving under a suspended license. Deputy Hunter stopped Mr. Hunter on State Route 7 in Newport Township.

On 20 Feb 14 Reginald Best, age 65, 810 Braun Road, Belpre, reported in mid-December 2013 he received a phone call from an unknown male with an Indian accent who claimed to work for Microsoft. The suspect claimed that Mr. Best’s computer was hacked and that he could purchase software to fix his computer for $250. Mr. Best provided his credit card information but did not receive any software through the mail. This case remains under investigation (509).

On 20 Feb 14 a seventeen year old Coolville resident reported sometime after 8:00 am the driver of an unknown vehicle struck his Chevy truck while it was parked in the parking lot of Warren High School. The collision caused minor damage to the passenger side door of the victim’s truck (509).

On 20 Feb 14 Christopher Mitchell, age 38, 3645 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, reported approximately two weeks ago an acquaintance who spent the night at his home stole his daughter’s iPhone. The suspect allegedly attempted to ransom the phone for $200 but when he was unsuccessful he returned the phone in a damaged state. This case remains under investigation (912).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Brian Daniel Barnes, age 37, 19891 Everly Road, Sarahsville, OH, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Barnes was arrested at the office of Probation Officer P. Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 18 at 2:40 pm.

Santana Lynette Lake, age 28, 1308 Williamson Avenue Apt. 8F, New Matamoras, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Lake was arrested at the office of Probation Officer P. Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 18 at 3:40 pm.

Curtis Jay Noel, age 52, 255 Arends Ridge Road, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Noel was arrested at the office of Probation Officer P. Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 18 at 5:12 pm.

Derek Allen Harris, age 25, 420 Lang Farm Road, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Harris was arrested at the Adult Parole Office by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 18 at 6:05 pm.
