On 16 Feb 14 Samantha Smith, age 23, 30 Abicht Drive, Newport, reported her live-in boyfriend, Matthew Lambert, age 25, assaulted her. Arguing about who would care for the couple’s four children while the other ran errands, Mr. Lambert struck Ms. Smith, pulled her hair and shoved her to the floor. Ms. Smith admitted to retaliating against Mr. Lambert by swinging a belt but she said she did not know if the belt struck him. When Deputies informed Mr. Lambert he was under arrest for domestic violence and attempted to handcuff him, he lunged forward and crashed his head into the drywall of a nearby wall. Mr. Lambert was subsequently subdued and transported to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Kathy Jean McDonald, age 49, 1889 N. Pleasant Highway, Saint Marys, for OVI, for not wearing a seat belt, for not using a child restraint, for driving outside the marked lanes of travel, for being in possession of an open container of alcohol and for two counts of child endangering, all misdemeanors.
