On 17 Jan 14 an employee of Merchants 5 Star,
18192 State Route 7, Marietta, reported the company was defrauded
out of $568.22. An unknown suspect purporting to be an employee
of a business that Merchants 5 Star deals with contacted Merchants
the previous day and claimed a trailer owned by the business
was stuck at a loading dock in Columbus and required repairs.
After sending the required funds, the Merchants employee received
what appeared to be a phony invoice and located the trailer
in question in the company’s lot. The trailer showed no
signs of being recently repaired. According to Merchants employees
this type of scam is becoming prevalent in the trucking industry.

On 17 Jan 14 Darrell R. Poole, age 23, 95 Sandhill
Road, Marietta, reported sometime overnight the license plate
was stolen off a utility trailer he borrowed from his grandfather
for the process of moving. This case remains under investigation
On 17 Jan 14 three residents at the Washington
County Home, 845 County House Lane, Marietta, reported the believe
a resident who recently moved from the home stole their property.
The stolen items are an Xbox 360, a tablet computer and a banjo.
