On 1 Jan 14 Wesley A. Sams, age 30, 842 Elgin Circle, Pickerington, OH, reported he was walking to his parents’ home at 671 Baker Ridge Road, Macksburg, from a nearby garage in the early morning hours when he stopped to assist two unknown males whose truck was stuck along the road. Mr. Sams believed the two men were intoxicated and admonished them for attempting to continue to drive. After doing so, the suspects became hostile and argumentative. Shortly thereafter, a truck with four additional males stopped and joined the fray. The group knocked Mr. Sams to the ground and continued to punch and kick him. They then fled, with one suspect questioning, “who was that guy?” Mr. Sams did not believe he was not seriously injured but when he awoke he found he could not get out of bed because of soreness in his ribs and other injuries he suffered during the attack. The Salem Fire Department subsequently transferred Mr. Sams to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries. This case remains under investigation (113).
