On 10 Dec 13 Sgt. Mankins responded to the scene of death of a fifty-nine year old Marietta resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 10 Dec 13 Clarence K. Eddy, age 56, 3969 Newell’s Run Road, Newport, reported when he arrived at his residence that afternoon he discovered footprints in the snow that led to an area behind a storage building on his property. Mr. Eddy stores scrap items behind the building and noticed numerous items were missing. Among the stolen items were fifteen radiators, four bumper reinforcements, air conditioner condensers and four aluminum wheels. A witness described the suspect’s vehicle, leading Deputy Sheriff Carr to the residence of Frederick G. McKitrick, age 31, 29465 State Route 7, Marietta. In Mr. McKitrick’s open garage, Deputy Carr saw an air conditioner similar to one described by Mr. Eddy. Additionally, Deputy Carr found a radiator in the bed of Mr. McKitrick’s truck. Deputy Carr returned the items to Mr. Eddy, who positively identified the items as being stolen from his property. Based on his investigation, Deputy Carr requested a summons for Mr. McKitrick for theft.

On 10 Dec 13, in the parking lot of 122 Tennis Center Drive, Marietta, the driver of an unknown vehicle struck the rear of a Ford Explorer owned by Jose Ortiz, age 23, 726 30th Street Apt. 4, Parkersburg. The collision caused minor damage to Mr. Ortiz’s vehicle (126).

The following individual was processed into the Washington County Jail:

Josey Cheyenne Barton, age 22, 407 Maple Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a felony. Barton was arrested at the Adult Probation Office by Deputy Sheriff Gerber and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Dec 13 at 1:29 pm.
