On 2 Dec 13 an employee of Stonebridge Operating Company reported at some point during the past three days an unknown suspect(s) pried the lock off a building at a compressor station at the 1600 block of State Route 83 in Beverly. No property was missing from the building. This case remains under investigation (592, 610).

On 2 Dec 13 the service manager at Family Ford, 909 Pike Street, Marietta, reported sometime over the weekend an unknown suspect(s) removed the passenger side doors of a Ford Ranger owned by Benny E. Jones, age 61, 33 Shaffer Road, Waterford. The cost to replace the doors is approximately $2,500. This case remains under investigation (126).

On 2 Dec 13 Deputy Sheriff Hunter arrested a fourteen year old Newport resident on a charge of delinquency by domestic violence. The teenager struck her eight year old sister several times in the head during an argument around noon. After the girls’ mother separated the two and forced the teenager outside of the home, the juvenile taunted her sister through a window and attempted to throw a plastic shovel through it.

On 2 Dec 13 Deputy Sheriff McPeek requested a summons for a fourteen year old Belpre resident to appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of delinquency by theft. Before school that morning, the juvenile stole nine $100 bills from his father’s desk. The teenager took the money to school and distributed the bills to students in an effort to stop them from bullying him. All but $9 was recovered and returned to the teenager’s father.

TWO SUMMONSED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY

Following an investigation involving animal neglect, Deputy Sheriff McGilton requested summonses for Bob Hasley, age 52, and Luci Yoho, age 45, both of 400 Clinton Street, Marietta, for cruelty to animals and failing to register a dog. Despite being advised on previous occasions to provide adequate food and shelter for their dogs, Mr. Hasley and Ms. Yoho failed to do so. When Deputy McGilton arrived at the home to investigate an anonymous tip, she observed one dog outside that was on a leash that was tangled in debris, leaving the animal with limited movement. In a nearby kennel, Deputy McGilton noticed three dogs that appeared extremely malnourished and without proper bedding for the outside temperature. Another dog kept inside the residence also appeared malnourished, was missing half of its hair and had extremely long nails. The veterinarian that treated the dogs confirmed that all of them were starving. None of the dogs were registered.

The following individual was processed into the Washington County Jail:

Michael Anthony Offenberger, age 28, 218 Pennsylvania Avenue Apt. 5, Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license, speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia and for operating a vehicle with an expired registration, all misdemeanors. Offenberger was arrested in Warren Township by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Dec 13 at 12:14 pm.
