On 16 Nov 13 Lt. Rhodes was on patrol on US 50 when he encountered two vehicles parked perpendicularly near the intersection of State Route 339. The driver of a Ford Ranger, later identified as Eric R. Wade, age 51, 1308 N. Lane Jr., age 36, 44 Suzanne Street, Little Hocking, attempted to attach a tow rope to the truck. Both Mr. Wade and Mr. Lane had odors of alcohol and admitted having “a few beers” earlier in the evening. A third person at the scene, Jesse L. Kersey III, age 18, Dry Run Road, Parkersburg, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol as well and heavily slurred his speech. Mr. Wade and Mr. Lane performed poorly on subsequent field sobriety tests and were arrested for OVI. Mr. Kersey was arrested as well, on a charge of underage consumption of alcohol. In violation of a protection order, Ms. Beaver’s husband phoned and text messaged her several times. In one instance, Ms. Beaver said her ex-husband approached her vehicle from behind in his vehicle and repeatedly flashed his headlights. When Ms. Beaver pulled her vehicle over, her husband screamed at her and threatened to strike her and her passenger with a baseball bat. This case remains under investigation (129).

On 16 Nov 13 an employee of Par Mar #2, 8600 State Route 339, Vincent, reported a customer attempted to leave the store with approximately $33.16 in goods stuffed in his clothing. When Deputy Sheriff Carr arrived, Mr. Mullins began swearing and caused a disturbance in the store. During a pat down search, Deputy Carr also discovered five Cadbury caramels and four packs of gum in Mr. Mullins’ pockets. In addition, Deputy Carr observed an odor of alcohol about Mr. Mullins and noticed he had difficulty keeping his eyes open. Based on his investigation, Deputy Carr arrested Mr. Mullins for theft, for disorderly conduct by intoxication and underage consumption of alcohol. At the jail, Mr. Mullins tested .048 BAC.
