On 29 Oct 13 Carline Stevens, age 67, 90 Mitchell
Drive, Newport, reported he believes a family member obtained
her debit card and used it to make several unauthorized withdrawals
since 9 Sep. This case remains under investigation (594).
On 29 Oct 13 Jack L. Comp, age 59, 2506 Herring
Road, WV, reported he was informed by a wildlife officer that
a tree stand and trail camera belonging to him were stolen from
property at 19526 State Route 550, Marietta. It is believed
that the property owner mistakenly gave permission to the alleged
suspect to take the items. Sgt. Reeder obtained the tree stand
and camera and arranged for Mr. Comp to retrieve them.
On 29 Oct 13 an employee of Gary’s Towing,
1409 Pike Street, Marietta, reported a customer failed to pay
the remaining $63.34 for towing and storage services provided
by the business during the past several days. Contacted by Deputy
Sheriff White, the alleged suspect agreed to mail a check to
Gary’s Towing. Deputy White informed the suspect she would
be charged with theft if the business did not receive it within
On 29 Oct 13 Rebecca Rooney, age 32, 14350
State Route 555, Cutler, reported her husband, Matthew, age
35, grew increasingly angry after reading a comment his friend
made under a picture she posted on Facebook. Mr. Rooney drank
beer and repeatedly phoned his friend over the following two
hours until he was so enraged that he struck the kitchen table,
overturned kitchen chairs and threw the television remote several
times. Scared of where the situation might escalate, Mrs. Rooney
phoned for help. Mrs. Rooney was uninjured but stated her husband’s
actions caused her to fear for her safety. Consequently, Deputy
Sheriff McConnell arrested Mr. Rooney for domestic violence
and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 29 Oct 13 Joseph J. Roby, age 34, 125 Richwood
Court, Belpre, reported he believes his estranged wife forged
his name on a security deposit refund check and deposited it
into her own account in late August. After consulting the Law
Director’s Office, Deputy Sheriff Augenstein informed
Mr. Roby that his ex-wife could not be charged with theft because
they were cohabitating at the time but she could possibly be
charged with forgery. This case remains under investigation

Matthew Allen Rooney, age 35, 14350 State Route
555, Cutler, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Rooney was
arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff McConnell and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 29 Oct 13 at 8:33 am.
Kristoffer Dale Cline, age 38, 14490 State
Route 60, Lowell, for breaking and entering, a felony. Cline
was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Nohe of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 29 Oct 13 at 2:19 pm.
Cody Montell Knotts, age 22, 360 Morris Road,
Marietta, for driving under a suspended license, for operating
a vehicle with fictitious plates, for operating a vehicle with
an expired registration and for not wearing a seat belt, all
misdemeanors. Knotts was arrested by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 29 Oct
13 at 5:16 pm.
Carrie Sue Britton, age 27, 45 Mills Lane,
Watertown, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Britton was arrested on State Route 7 in Reno by Lt. Norman
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 29 Oct 13 at 7:31 pm.
Michael Shawn Williams, age 37, 36930 State
Route 7, Marietta, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Williams
was arrested at his residence by Lt. Norman of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Oct 13 at 7:48 pm.
