On 4 Oct 13 Amanda C. O’Brien, age 27, 343 Main Street, Lower Salem, Lower Salem, reported sometime between noon and 11 pm on 1 Oct an unknown suspect(s) entered a garage and storage area on her property and stole several articles of jewelry, various tools, a chainsaw, bullets and gun barrels. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $5,800. This case remains under investigation (296).

On 4 Oct 13 Mickelle Smith, age 18, 1685 Wynncrest Drive, Marietta, reported she was assaulted by her uncle, John L. Clark, age 42, of the same address. During an argument over shared food in the household, Mr. Clark threatened Ms. Smith and punched her in the stomach. Ms. Smith had a surgical procedure a few days earlier in the area where she was punched and stated the punch caused her severe pain. Confirming Ms. Smith’s statement with witnesses, Deputy Sheriff Carr arrested Mr. Clark for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail. Ms. Smith sought treatment at Marietta Memorial Hospital as a precaution but she was not admitted.

On 4 Oct 13 a fifty-six year old Newport resident reported she received four phone calls from a family member despite the fact that he was previously asked to cease contacting her. The victim later declined to pursue charges in the matter (129).

On 4 Oct 13 Sgt. Reeder charged Washington County Jail inmate, Katherine Fonseca, age 32, 1055 Lake Berkley, Kissimmee, FL, with illegal conveyance of items into a detention facility. While Ms. Fonseca was being searched and processed into the jail, a Corrections Officer observed a plastic bag that Ms. Fonseca attempted to conceal in a body cavity. Ms. Fonseca subsequently admitted the white powdery substance in the bag was cocaine. Corrections Officers discovered the contraband after Ms. Fonseca acknowledged that she would be charged if she attempted to convey items into the jail. The original arresting agency, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, also charged Ms. Fonseca with possession of cocaine.

On 4 Oct 13 Ronald G. Purves, age 67, 1135 Tower Road, Little Hocking, was life-flighted to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV for treatment to injuries suffered in a tractor accident. Mr. Purves was turning a riding mower around on a hillside when the chained rear tires dug into the ground and caused the front of the mower to tip up and roll backwards over a four foot wall. Mr. Purves’ last known condition was serious but improving (296).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Michael Von Richards, age 36, 1365 McGill Road, Vincent, for theft, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, two counts of failure to appear, two counts of possession of drugs and six counts of trafficking in drugs, all felonies. Richards was picked up at the North Central Regional Jail by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Oct 13 at 1:47 pm.

John Leonard Clark, age 42, 1685 Wynncrest Drive, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Clark was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Oct 13 at 2:39 pm.

Nicole Leigh Weekly, age 36, 305 Lee Street, Belpre, for direct contempt, a misdemeanor. Weekly was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Oct 13 at 4:22 pm.

Katherine Fonseca, age 32, 1055 Lake Berkley, Kissimmee, FL, for possession of criminal tools, possession of drugs and illegal conveyance of items into a detention facility, all felonies. Fonseca was arrested near milepost twelve on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Oct 13 at 5:58 pm.
