On 27 Sep 13 Deputy Sheriff Hunter requested a warrant for Jason L. Bartimus, age 37, 2346 Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent, for assault. Enraged that his sister in law, Katherine Bartimus, age 32, 2342 Sealy Ridge Road, phoned law enforcement after he assaulted her earlier in the morning, Mr. Bartimus shoved her through a doorway at her residence. Mrs. Bartimus sought treatment at Marietta Memorial Hospital for a laceration she suffered on the inside of her right forearm.

On 27 Sep 13 Gale C. Wilson, age 69, 30736 State Route 7, Marietta, reported an acquaintance took a truck and trailer from his property at 35411 State Route 7, Newport, without permission. The suspect, Larney F. Cole, age 74, 46732 State Route 7, New Matamoras, drove approximately 200 yards away, hooked the trailer to his own vehicle, and then returned Mr. Wilson’s truck. The trailer in question is part of a civil dispute between Mr. Wilson and Mr. Cole involving a real estate transaction. Based on his investigation, Deputy Sheriff Hunter requested a summons for Mr. Cole for unauthorized use of Mr. Wilson’s vehicle.

On 27 Sep 13 Bonita J. Lowe, age 52, 1990 State Route 339, Belpre, reported she received a fraudulent check in the mail. The check, which was payment for $280 worth of Beauti Control products, was instead made for $2,809.39. The supposed customer said the total was a clerical error and asked that Ms. Lowe deposit the check, subtract $280 from the total and to send her the remaining funds. Ms. Lowe determined the check was fraudulent before sending any money from her account. This case remains under investigation (592).

On 27 Sep 13 Jeffery McKay, age 54, 36499 State Route 534, Rock Creek, OH, reported at some point during the past three weeks an unknown suspect(s) entered a storage building on his property at 3121 Deans Fork Road, Whipple, and stole six marine batteries, a large brass kettle, a trail camera and a gas can. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $1,070. This case remains under investigation (126).

On 27 Sep 13 Tonya Davis, age 44, 26935 State Route 7 Apt. 2C, Marietta, reported her live-in boyfriend, Roger Ward, age 62, punched her in the face while they were traveling home from a local bar. Arguing with Ms. Davis as he drove, Mr. Ward punched her in the left cheek and nose. The two continued to bicker when they arrived at their residence, where Mr. Ward shoved Ms. Davis’ head against a car window. Based on his investigation, Deputy Sheriff White arrested Mr. Ward for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail. At the jail, Mr. Ward tested .105 BAC.

On 27 Sep 13 Sgt. Anderson arrested Jennifer M. Grimm, age 30, 568 Hill Road, Cutler, for assault. The previous evening Ms. Grimm threatened to assault Tina M. Shoenberger, age 39, 491 Hill Road, Cutler, after a heated phone conversation during which both parties said hurtful things to the other. Ms. Grimm followed through with her threat, confronting Ms. Shoenberger as she was unloading items from her vehicle. Ms. Grimm then punched Ms. Shoenberger twice in the face and knocked her to the ground. Questioned about the incident, Ms. Grimm admitted striking Ms. Shoenberger because she was still upset over their phone conversation.

On 27 Sep 13 Samantha Smith, age 23, 30 Abicht Drive, Newport, reported she was involved in a verbal confrontation with her live-in boyfriend. Ms. Smith said she and her boyfriend are in the process of separating and they were accusing each other of having an affair. Both parties agreed that no threats or physical violence took place during the dispute. As a result, Deputy Sheriff Holbert closed this case as unfounded.

On 27 Sep 13 Donald Shook, age 31, 27400 State Route 7 Lot 34, Marietta, reported he fell down the steps at his estranged wife’s home during the brief time he was there to obtain his children for visitation. Mr. Shook stated he was arguing with his wife over their pending divorce when his wife tapped him on the shoulder. Mr. Shook lost his balance and fell backward down several stairs. Asked about his wife’s intentions, Mr. Shook said he did not believe she intended to cause him any harm. Neither party reported being in fear for their safety during the incident. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Reeder closed this case as unfounded.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Roger Lee Ward Sr., age 62, 26935 State Route 7 Apt. 2C, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Ward was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff White and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Sep 13 at 3:22 am.

Jamie Jo Waterman, age 50, 1209 Broad Street, Parkersburg, for breach of recognizance and domestic violence, both misdemeanors. Waterman was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Sep 13 at 7:00 am.

Jennifer Marie Grimm, age 30, 45 E. Fourth Street Apt. 22, The Plains, OH, for assault, a misdemeanor. Grimm was arrested on Hill Road in Cutler by Sgt. Anderson of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Sep 13 at 5:05 pm.

Frederick Reginald McElrath Jr., age 25, 20506 Warrensville Heights, OH, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. McElrath was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Sep 13 at 5:32 pm.
