Archive of 09-23-13

On 23 Sep 13 Cole M. Dutton, age 22, 990 Laurel Ridge Road, Lowell, reported at some point during the past three days an unknown suspect(s) stole a basket containing approximately forty knives from his bedroom. The basket contained a variety of knives, including some from both World Wars, and an estimated total value of $1,000. This case remains under investigation (1010).

On 23 Sep 13 Lois McKnight, age 64, 1245 Sandhill Road, Marietta, was cleaning her home when she heard cracking and popping noises. Looking in her kitchen, Mrs. McKnight saw a cloud of black smoke and flames shooting out from behind her microwave. Along with the Reno Fire Department, the Newport and Williamstown fire departments responded. The fire, which appears to be accidental in nature, caused substantial damage to the home. Mrs. McKnight escaped without injury (126).

On 23 Sep 13 an employee of Fowler Commercial Collections reported a Marietta resident issued a check for $275 to the YMCA that was later returned for nonsufficient funds. Attempts to contact the suspect have thus far been unsuccessful. This case remains under investigation (1090).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Rex Kenneth Leo Lang Jr., age 26, 600 Olloch Hill Road, Lowell, for .17 breath OVI, driving outside the marked lanes of travel and failure to obey a traffic control device, all misdemeanors. Lang was arrested on State Route 821 by Sgt. Reeder of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Sep 13 at 2:54 am.

Stephanie Lynn Satterfield, age 27, 203 Creel Street, Saint Marys, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Satterfield was arrested at the Courthouse by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Sep 13 at 10:23 am.

Brandon Edward O’Brien, age 26, 650 King Avenue, Cutler, for two felony counts of violating the terms of his probation. O’Brien turned himself in to Deputy Sheriff Hunter and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Sep 13 at 4:38 pm.
