On 12 Sep 13 Daryll Slimmer, age 5, 135 Lewis Pointe Drive, Vincent, reported he received a phone call from an unknown suspect claiming he was collecting donations for a benefit for the Sheriff’s Office. The caller did not attempt to collect any donations at the time and stated he would send Mr. Slimmer a brochure with more information. The Sheriff’s Office does not solicit donations over the phone and recommends any resident who receives such a call to report it as soon as possible. This case remains under investigation (507).

On 12 Sep 13 Deputy Sheriff McKee requested summonses for Amber L. Hendershot, age 32, 11 First Avenue, New Matamoras, and her husband, Curt, age 42, for disorderly conduct by fighting. During an argument, Mrs. Hendershot attempted to strike her husband with a can of soda. Mrs. Hendershot admitted attempting to hit her husband but said she did so after her husband forced her car keys out of her hand. Neither party reported being in fear for their safety during the incident.

On 12 Sep 13 Joshua Belcher, age 21, 25653 Pump Station Road, Caldwell, reported two tires on his Ford pickup truck were punctured while it was parked at 360 Mechanic Street, Macksburg, that evening. This case remains under investigation (910).

On 12 Sep 13 Deputy Sheriff McConnell issued a citation to Cory A. Cain, age 27, 11 Brown Avenue, Athens, for operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. Deputy McConnell stopped Mr. Cain on Gilman Avenue near Maple Street in Marietta.

MARIJUANA AND LSD TRAFFICKING ARRESTS

A buy-bust conducted by Agents of the Major Crimes Task Force last night resulted in the arrest of three suspects on charges of drug trafficking and drug possession. Arrested during the operation were Dakota L. Morningstar, age 20, 1205 County House Lane Apt. A, Marietta; Vincent M. Christopher, age 23, 5529 Storer Avenue Cleveland; and Michael S. Cope II, age 29, 2006 Huntington Street, Middletown, OH.

Utilizing a confidential informant, Agents purchased a pound of marijuana and 100 unit doses of LSD at Ms. Morningstar’s residence. Once the suspects were taken into custody, Task Force Agents found each suspect in possession of currency used in the transaction. A search of the residence yielded forty-seven unit doses of LSD on a coffee table that were accessible to Mr. Cope and Ms. Morningstar. Additionally, Agents located 100 unit doses of LSD in the vehicle from which Mr. Christopher was removed at the time of his arrest.

The charges for the suspects are as follows:

Morningstar – fourth degree felony charge of trafficking in marijuana and a fourth degree felony charge of possession of LSD;

Cope - third degree felony charge of trafficking in LSD and a fourth degree felony charge of possession of LSD;

Christopher - third degree felony charge of possession of LSD and a fourth degree felony charge of trafficking in marijuana;

All three suspects remain incarcerated in the Washington County Jail pending their initial court appearance on 13 Sep 13.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Sherman Lamarr Hawkins, age 20, 138 W. Stevens Avenue, Columbus, for obstructing official business, a misdemeanor. Hawkins was arrested on McDonald Road by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 13 at 12:57 am.

James Donald Whitfield III, age 20, 1102 McDonald Road, Vincent, for obstruction of justice, a misdemeanor. Whitfield was arrested on McDonald Road by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 13 at 1:26 am.

Tiana Rai Whitfield, age 18, 493 Beechwood Drive, Whitehall, OH, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Whitfield was arrested on McDonald Road by Deputy Sheriff McConnell and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 13 at 2:47 am.

Michael Anthony Barber, age 35, 926 12th Street, Parkersburg, for three misdemeanor counts of falsification. Barber was arrested near milepost six on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff White and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 13 at 3:02 pm.

Kelly Jane Farnsworth, age 25, 708 Front Street Apt. 22, Marietta, for theft, a misdemeanor. Farnsworth was arrested on Front Street by Patrolman Ellenwood of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 13 at 4:27 pm.

Marisha Kay Murphy, age 23, 50406 Bigley Ridge Road, Long Bottom, for theft, a misdemeanor. Murphy was arrested at Wal-Mart by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 13 at 7:00 pm.
