On 26 Aug 13 Lt. Gherke requested a summons for Bill Baker, age 64, 1875 Laurel Ridge Road, Lowell, for disorderly conduct by fighting. Mr. Baker angrily confronted well tenders working on a leased well on his property, yelling and screaming obscenities. At one point during the incident Mr. Baker punched a worker in the jaw. The worker responded by punching Mr. Baker and knocking him to the ground. Witnesses agreed that Mr. Baker was responsible for escalating the incident and the worker punched Mr. Baker in self defense.

On 26 Aug 13 a forty year old Lowell resident reported she received several unwanted text messages from a man she dated for a short period of time. Questioned by Lt. Gherke, the alleged suspect apologized for the messages, which he said were sent during a drinking binge. The victim declined to pursue the matter further.

On 26 Aug 13 Holly Wilcox, age 32, 6850 State Route 60, Marietta, reported she recently discovered her Chase credit card was used to make an unauthorized purchase of $193.36 at an online store. This case remains under investigation (1010).

On 26 Aug 13 a caretaker for Naomi Schneider, age 85, 760 Lang Farm Road, Marietta, reported sometime during the past week an unknown suspect(s) stole a bottle containing approximately thirty of Ms. Schneider’s Vicodin pills. This case remains under investigation (1104).

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR TWO COUNTS OF RAPE

A Lowell resident was arrested today in Wood County, WV, on rape charges resulting from sexual acts involving a child who was nine years old at the time they were committed. Between January and May of this year Daniel M. Pottmeyer, age 29, 7959 State Route 60, Lowell, performed two types of sexual acts on the child between five and seven times. Utilizing investigative techniques, Detectives were able to definitively link Mr. Pottmeyer and the sexual acts involving the child. Mr. Pottmeyer was arrested at his place of employment by authorities in Wood County and is being held in West Virginia pending his extradition to Ohio. Mr. Pottmeyer faces two first degree felony charges of rape.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Marnie Janel Trickett, age 43, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Trickett was arrested near milepost twelve on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 13 at 1:44 am.

Glen Edward Church, age 50, 228 Pike Street Apt. 9, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Church was arrested near milepost twelve on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 13 at 2:42 am.

Daniel Scott Metz, age 42, 101 Allen Street, Little Hocking, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Metz was arrested at his residence by Lt. Gherke of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 13 at 7:00 am.

James Lee Dotson Jr., age 30, 804 Front Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Dotson was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Chapman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 13 at 9:10 am.

Elijah Neil Naylor, age 27, Wooster, OH, for assault, a misdemeanor. Naylor was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 13 at 11:05 am.

Susan Raye Harvey, age 39, 11722 State Route 555, Cutler, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Harvey was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 13 at 11:25 am.

Steven Christopher Hicks, age 29, 192 Calf Creek Road, Saint Marys, for OVI and for failing to obey the right of way, both misdemeanors. Hicks turned himself in at the Courthouse to Deputy Sheriff Malone and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 13 at 2:05 pm.

Charles Edward Grodhaus, age 33, 1255 Front Street, Malta, for driving under a suspended license and for having an inoperable license plate light, both misdemeanors. Grodhaus was arrested in Beverly by Deputy Sheriff Hunter and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 13 at 6:26 pm.
