On 24 Aug 13 Detective Smeeks issued a citation to Charles L. Sherman Jr., age 26, 2020 Bear Run Road, Newport, for driving under a suspended license. Detective Smeeks originally stopped Mr. Sherman for having an inoperable headlight on State Route 7 near County House Lane in Marietta Township.

On 24 Aug 13 Lt. Stackpole issued a citation to Adam J. Allphin, age 29, 1050 Hadley Lane, Marietta, for traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. Lt. Stackpole stopped Mr. Allphin on State Route 7 near Gravel Bank Road in Warren Township.

On 24 Aug 13 Detective Parks issued a citation to Florizel W. Woodford, age 62, 11355 State Route 26, Marietta, for operating a vehicle with an expired registration. Detective Parks originally stopped Mr. Woodford for having a cracked windshield on State Route 7 near County Road 9 in Marietta Township.

On 24 Aug 13 Detective Parks issued a citation to Jassandra C. Johnston, age 32, 810 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license and for operating a vehicle with a fictitious registration. Detective Parks stopped Ms. Johnston on State Route 7 near Gravel Bank Road in Warren Township.

On 24 Aug 13 Deputy Sheriffs McPeek and Metts responded to an alarm at Belpre Sand and Gravel at 320 Cemetery Road, Belpre. At the scene the business’ owner noticed the locks were cut off a large gas tank and a building. Initially the owner only thought two trash cans were stolen but after further examination he determined four gas cans and approximately 400 feet of welding cable were missing. The total value of the stolen items is in excess of $2,600. This case remains under investigation.

On 24 Aug 13 the Warren Fire Department transported Deborah R. Williams, age 57, 1235 Bethel Road, Marietta, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment after she was bitten by a neighbor’s dog. Ms. Williams just exited her vehicle when her neighbor’s eight month old Australian cattle dog ran at her from across the street. The dog then jumped and bit the back of Ms. Williams’ left thigh. Ms. Williams suffered only a minor wound but was scheduled for additional tests after she complained of having chest pains (1007).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Russell Allen Phillips, age 42, Canton, for felony charges of violating the terms of his parole, receiving stolen property and two counts of failure to register a change of address as a registered sex offender and misdemeanor charges of obstructing justice and falsification. Phillips was arrested at Lane Farm Campground by Detective Parks of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Aug 13 at 12:08 am.

Larry Eugene Sparks, age 57, State Route 26, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Sparks was arrested in Marietta by Probation Officer E. Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Aug 13 at 4:29 am.

Michael Douglas Kenney Jr., age 40, 2605 Keffer Road, Stockport, for trafficking in drugs and for possession of drugs, both felonies. Kenney was arrested in Beverly by Deputy Sheriff Augenstein and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Aug 13 at 12:37 pm.

Caleb Reece Young, age 19, 433 Fourth Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Young was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Ellenwood of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Aug 13 at 5:39 pm.

David Michael Ascencio, age 36, 1942 Main Street, Stockport, for nonsupport of dependants, a misdemeanor. Ascencio was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Aug 13 at 10:31 pm.
