On 19 Aug 13 the Newport Fire Department transported Ronnie L. Earley, age 50, 41803 TH 817, New Matamoras, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment following an accident in a parking lot near Frontier High School. Mr. Earley was attempting to drive a mid-size tractor onto a trailer when the rear wheels slipped on the trailer ramp. When the rear wheels found a grip the front of the tractor rose into the air, causing the cab to collapse forward onto Mr. Earley’s body. The extent of Mr. Earley’s injuries is unknown; he was scheduled to undergo additional tests (597).

On 19 Aug 13 Denzil Haught, age 73, 45 Teri Lane, Little Hocking, reported in July he hired an individual to move into his home to help care for his wife. At the request of the individual, Mr. Haught provided advances in her salary through September. However, Mr. Haught terminated the aide’s employment and has not been repaid for the advances. This case remains under investigation (910).

On 19 Aug 13 Lt. Rhodes and Lt. Johnson responded to a domestic disturbance at 26115 State Route 7 Lot 1, Marietta. A neighbor witnessed a female, later identified as Whitney Young, age 21, 7121 Tree Notch Road, Mobile, AL, arguing with the male occupant of the fifth wheel camper at that address. The involved parties admitted yelling and screaming at each other but denied any sort of altercation took place. As a result, Lt. Rhodes closed this case as unfounded.

On 19 Aug 13 Elizabeth Lemasters, age 36, 297 Suzanne Street, Washington, WV, reported she left her 1999 Land Rover at the intersection of Greenhill Road and Radabaugh Road the previous day and when she returned a day later she found it stuck in a ditch. This case remains under investigation (910).

On 19 Aug 13 a seventeen year old Belpre resident was walking along Barnett Ridge Road in Dunham Township when a neighbor’s dog bit him on the upper right thigh. Physician’s Care cleaned the minor wound and prescribed antibiotics to stave off infection (1007).

On 19 Aug 13 Deputy Sheriff White requested a warrant for Steven L. O’Brien, age 24, 343 Main Street, Lower Salem, for domestic violence. Mr. O’Brien’s sister in law, Amanda O’Brien, age 27, of the same address, reported her brother in law shoved her to the ground, pulled her hair and struck her in the head when he opened a truck door. The two were arguing over the use of gasoline in a shared vehicle when Mr. O’Brien flew into a fit of rage and commenced his attack.

The following individual wAS processed into the Washington County Jail:

Michael Dennis Medcalf, age 57, 100 Del Ray Court, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Medcalf was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff White and processed into the Washington County Jail on 19 Aug 13 at 1:53 pm.
