On 17 Aug 13 Deputy Sheriff Hunter responded to the scene of death of an eighty-two year old New Matamoras resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 17 Aug 13 Jerry Reynolds, age 69, 498 Mayle Ridge Road, Cutler, reported at some point during the past day an unknown suspect(s) cut a segment of his steel square and barbed wire fencing. This case remains under investigation (509).

On 17 Aug 13 David Greenlee, 405 Northlake Drive, Vincent, reported he was cleaning his camper he discovered what he believes to be pry marks on a door and storage compartment. This case remains under investigation (509).

On 17 Aug 13 Deputies and Detectives responded to the scene of death of a forty-nine year old Little Hocking resident. The man’s death appears to be due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. No foul play is suspected.

On 17 Aug 13 Curtis J. Noel, age 51, 255 Arends Ridge Road, Marietta, reported he was incarcerated for the past month and during that timeframe he believes an acquaintance stole an iPod, three DVDs and his father’s college graduation ring. The suspect, Santana Lake, age 28, 300 Pattin Avenue, Marietta, subsequently admitted to Deputy Sheriff Hunter that she stole the items but could not recall where she sold them or how much money she received for them. Based on his investigation, Deputy Hunter arrested Ms. Lake for theft and transported her to the Washington County Jail.

On 17 Aug 13 the Devola Fire Department transported Marie H. Willson, age 68, 207 Lindsey Avenue, Marietta, to Marietta Memorial for treatment for a dog bite. Ms. Willson was attempting to retrieve a chew toy from underneath a cabinet when her twelve year old miniature dachshund became excited and bit her on the upper lip. Medical staff stated Mrs. Willson would require five stitches and would be released.

On 17 Aug 13 Michael B. Smith, age 19, 803 Tick Ridge Road, Vincent, reported after hearing the engine of his 1993 Ford Mustang turning over, he discovered an unknown suspect(s) attempted to steal it. This case remains under investigation (610).

On 17 Aug 13 Sgt. Mankins encountered a suspicious vehicle occupied by two people parked outside a business on Lowell Hill Road in Adams Township. The driver, Daniel Blair Jr., age 57, and passenger, Tony W. Oliver Jr., age 46, both of 565 Fleming Road, Lowell, both had an odor of alcohol and stated they were at the location looking through the contents of a dumpster. Thereafter, Sgt. Mankins observed two open cans of beer in the console of the vehicle. Questioned about further about the evening’s events, both men admitted consuming beer in the vehicle and Mr. Blair admitted driving his vehicle to its current location. Mr. Blair subsequently performed poorly on field sobriety tests, was arrested for OVI and consuming alcohol in a vehicle and transported to the Washington County Jail. Sgt. Mankins also requested a summons for Mr. Oliver for consuming alcohol in a vehicle.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Kyle Jacob Gray, age 23, 726 Sixth Street, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Gray was arrested on Front Street by Patrolman Wenzel of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 13 at 2:29 am.

Glen Edward Church, age 50, 228 Pike Street Apt. 9, Marietta, for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Church was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Chapman of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 13 at 1:15 pm.

Anthony Edward Bartlett, age 34, 12813 Scatter Ridge Road, Athens, for theft and for breach of recognizance, both misdemeanors. Bartlett was picked up at the Athens County line by Lt. Gherke of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 13 at 4:00 pm.

Tasha Cheyenne Adams, age 29, 7360 Bethany Ridge Road, Guysville, for theft and for breach of recognizance, both misdemeanors. Adams was picked up at the Athens County line by Lt. Gherke of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 13 at 4:22 pm.

Dale Aric Landaker, age 49, 310 Virginia Street, Beverly, for OVI and improper backing, both misdemeanors. Landaker was arrested in Beverly by Patrolman Schaad of the Beverly City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 13 at 5:25 pm.

Brent Edward Deeter, age 34, 104 Fourth Street Apt. B, Marietta, for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. Deeter was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Harlow of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 13 at 7:27 pm.

Daniel Wayne Blair Jr., age 57, 565 Fleming Road, Lowell, for OVI, driving under a suspended license and consuming alcohol in a vehicle, all misdemeanors. Blair was arrested in Lowell by Sgt. Mankins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 13 at 7:34 pm.

Santana Lynette Lake, age 27, 300 Pattin Avenue, Marietta, for theft, a misdemeanor. Lake was arrested on Starlite Drive by Deputy Sheriff Hunter and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 13 at 7:39 pm.
