On 8 Aug 13 Julia Wright, age 62, 11755 State Route 26, Marietta, reported she received a phone call from a collections agency that she believed was a scam. Deputy Sheriff Hunter contacted the agency and determined the call was not a scam it was a valid attempt to collect a past due electric bill for a home formerly owned by Mrs. Wright. Mrs. Wright sold the home to a family member and was unsure if the account information on the electric service was ever changed. Mrs. Wright declined to pursue the matter and instead chose to handle the monetary part of this investigation with the family member.

On 8 Aug 13 Richard L. Hamilton, age 73, 300 Starlite Drive Lot 10, Marietta, reported he mailed a $210 money order for his rent to an address in California but it was intercepted and cashed by an unauthorized individual before it reached its destination. This case remains under investigation (126).

On 8 Aug 13 Earnest C. Hoschar, age 57, 6794 Veto Road, Belpre, reported he is involved in a property line dispute with a neighbor and he believes the neighbor stole eight wood fence posts he has lining his driveway. This case remains under investigation (509).

On 8 Aug 13 Jason A. Shuck, age 27, 19330 State Route 550, Marietta, reported when he arrived home he observed his brother and his brother’s girlfriend, Arlene M. West, age 23, 19334 State Route 550, arguing next door. When Mr. Shuck asked the two to calm down Ms. West threw a full can of soda in his direction. After Ms. West punched him in the face Mr. Shuck shoved her to the ground and attempted to walk away. Ms West charged Mr. Shuck again, at which point Mr. Shuck push her to the ground and held her for a few moments. While on the ground Ms. West grabbed Mr. Shuck’s eyeglasses and broke them. Released by Mr. Shuck, Ms. West walked inside her home and retrieved a can of pepper spray. Ms. West then sprayed the pepper spray in Mr. Shuck’s face. Confirming Mr. Shuck’s account with a witness, Deputy Sheriff Reeder arrested Ms. Shuck for assault and criminal damaging and transported her to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Colton Lee Reed, age 23, 207 1/2 Scammel Street, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Reed was arrested on Second Street by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Aug 13 at 3:08 am.

Alexis Cheyenne Early, age 19, 2607 N. Dry Run Road, Williamstown, for OVI and possession of drugs, both misdemeanors. Early was arrested at Marietta Memorial Hospital by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Aug 13 at 1:00 pm.

Harry Eugene Fahner, age 34, 3100 Central Avenue, Ashland, KY, for obstructing official business, failure to appear and two counts of theft, all misdemeanors. Fahner was arrested at K-Mart by Patrolman Hanson of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Aug 13 at 4:47 pm.

Eric Sean Ameling, age 52, 4616 Sixth Avenue, Vienna, for possession of drugs, a felony. Ameling was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Kirby of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Aug 13 at 6:40 pm.

Jessica Lynn Stevens, age 32, 122 Tennis Center Drive Apt. 14, Marietta, for assault, a misdemeanor. Stevens was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff White and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Aug 13 at 8:13 pm.

Brandon Robert Claypool, age 26, 2417 Lake Washington Road, Washington, WV, for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Claypool was picked up at the Athens County line by Lt. Stackpole of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Aug 13 at 9:25 pm.

Arlene Mae West, age 23, 19334 State Route 550, Marietta, for assault and criminal damaging, both misdemeanors. West was arrested on State Route 550 by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Aug 13 at 11:24 pm.
