On 2 Aug 13 Deputy Sheriff McPeek investigated multiple reports of damaged mailboxes. A total of twelve mailboxes were damaged on Braun Road, Mill Branch Road, Bethel Road, State Route 676, Cave Hill Road and Tick Hill Road.

On 2 Aug 13 Robert L. Byers, age 66, 305 Clark Drive, Marietta, reported sometime during the overnight hours beginning on 31 Jul a concrete “battlefield cross” was stolen from the side of his garage. This case remains under investigation (126).

On 2 Aug 13 an employee of Marietta Truck Sales, 275 Commerce Drive, Marietta, reported sometime on 31 Jul an unknown suspect(s) vandalized the interior of a school bus owned by Fort Frye Local Schools. The suspect(s) appear to have discharged a fire extinguisher throughout the inside of the bus. This case remains under investigation (126).

On 2 Aug 13 Deputy Sheriff Huffer arrested Hoyt T. Adkins, age 74, 200 Martin Road, Reno, for disorderly conduct. Mr. Adkins appeared intoxicated and argumentative when Deputy Huffer attempted to inform him of the proper use of calling 911. Before Deputy Huffer was dispatched to his home, Mr. Adkins called 911 multiple times, cursed at Dispatchers and repeatedly demanded to speak to the Deputy handling a case in which he is involved. Mr. Adkins tested .170 BAC.

On 2 Aug 13 Deputy Sheriff McGilton requested summonses for Jeffrey C. Davis, age 36, and his wife, Rayanna, age 25, 914 McGill Road, Vincent, for failing to register a dog and for three counts of cruelty to animals. Deputy McGilton and Humane Officers found dogs living in deplorable conditions with murky water and no food. They also observed two dead dogs decomposing the vicinity of where the other animals were living. In all six puppies, a Chihuahua, a boxer and a duck were confiscated from the property.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

William Lewis Campbell, age 24, 541 Main Street, Malta, for a felony charge of disrupting public service and misdemeanor charges of assault and criminal damaging. Campbell was picked up at the Morgan County line by Deputy Sheriff Augenstein and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Aug 13 at 12:03 am.

Jessica Jeanette Fritts, age 23, 711 Lawton Road, Marietta, for disorderly conduct and for violating the terms of her probation, both misdemeanors. Fritts was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff White and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Aug 13 at 1:25 am.

David Paul Caplinger, age 18, 2211 Gihon Road, Parkersburg, for two counts of obstructing official business. Caplinger was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Stump of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Aug 13 at 9:30 pm.

Hoyt Tillman Adkins, age 74, 200 Martin Road, Reno, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Adkins was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Huffer and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Aug 13 at 11:30 pm.
