On 1 Aug 13 Sgt. McLeish issued a citation
to Joseph A. Carpenter, age 31, 65 Church Street, Vincent, for
driving under a suspended license. Sgt. McLeish originally stopped
Mr. Carpenter for having an inoperable tail light on State Route
339 near Veto Road in Dunham Township.
On 1 Aug 13 Sgt. McLeish, Deputy Sheriff Metts
and the Beverly Fire Department were dispatched to a fire at
Globe Metallurgical at 1595 Sparling Road, Waterford. Highly
flammable material was being loaded into a hopper at the plant
when it ignited and caught fire. Extinguished by being smothered
with sand, the fire caused minor damage to a conveyor belt.
No injuries were reported and no toxins were released into the
On 1 Aug 13 Pamela M. Hansen, age 53, 1220
Drag Strip Road, Belpre, reported her landlord informed her
that her residence was entered two days earlier. Inventorying
her belongings, Ms. Hansen determined kitchen appliances and
tires from a salvaged vehicle were stolen from her property.
This case remains under investigation (910).
On 1 Aug 13 Deputy Sheriff White charged Jesse
S. Grim, age 34, and Jessica Fritts, age 23, both of 711 Lawton
Road, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by fighting. During an
argument Mr. Grim claimed Ms. Fritts shoved him and threw items
around their bedroom. Ms. Fritts accused Mr. Grim of choking
her and striking her but did not show signs of injury. Ms. Fritts
had an active warrant and was arrested at the conclusion of
Deputy White’s investigation.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Kelly Diane Buttermore, age 38, 306 Florence
Street, Belpre, for falsification, resisting arrest and for
being a fugitive from justice, all misdemeanors. Buttermore
was arrested at the Courthouse by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 1 Aug 13 at 2:18
Carrie Ann Metz, age 32, 1515 Washington Boulevard,
Belpre, for abusing harmful intoxicants and for violating the
terms of her probation, both misdemeanors. Metz was arrested
on Washington Boulevard by Patrolman Greathouse of the Belpre
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 1 Aug 13 at 10:42 pm.
