On 11 Jul 13 Herbert L. Sheppard, age 78, Parkersburg, reported at some point during the past week an unknown suspect(s) entered a vacant home he owns at 1241 Derby Road, Waterford. From the property, the suspect(s) stole two shotguns, a crossbow, a mini-bike and an undisclosed amount of cash. This case remains under investigation (509).

On 11 Jul 13 the Warren Fire Department transported Brian Brooker, age 46, 4869 Rainbow Road, Lowell, to Marietta Memorial Hospital after he was injured by a felled tree. Mr. Brooker cut down the tree and a large portion of the tree split when it hit the ground. The tree struck Mr. Brooker in the head and caused a laceration so large that it required twenty-five staples to close it. Mr. Brooker did not suffer any head injuries and was released two days later (1104).

The following individual was processed into the Washington County Jail:

Don Edward Groghan, age 42, 1469 Coal Run Road, Marietta, for failing to confine/restrain a dog, a misdemeanor. Groghan was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Jul 13 at 8:05 pm.
