On 6 Jul 13 an unknown suspect(s) spray painted obscenities and graffiti on a vehicle at 310 Fifth Street, Lowell, and on homes or buildings at 308 and 408 Walnut Street and 203 Third Street. This case remains under investigation (509).

On 6 Jul 13 Deputy Sheriff Holbert responded to the death of a forty-four year old Lower Salem resident. The woman’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 6 Jul 13 Lt. Gherke arrested Edward L. Sayger III, age 32, 193 Fourth Street, Lowell, for violating the terms of a protection order. Aware that Vanessa Sciance, age 111 W. Montgomery Street, Marietta, had a protection order against Mr. Sayger, an off duty Deputy observed the two holding hands as they walked along Front Street. Lt. Gherke also observed the couple holding hands and verified there was a protection order barring Mr. Sayger from having contact with Ms. Sciance.

On 6 Jul 13 James P. Cron, age 62, 215 Lawn Lane, Belpre, reported he is moving out of the residence he shared with his girlfriend and while doing so he became involved in an argument with his girlfriend over a vehicle, which is in his name. Mr. Cron’s girlfriend threatened to slash the tires on the vehicle with a knife. Both parties agreed that no physical violence took place. As a result, Deputy Sheriff McPeek closed this case as unfounded.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Lindsey Ray Quick, age 23, 5324 Sandhill Road, Coolville, for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Quick was arrested on State Route 7 by Patrolman Heddleston of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Jul 13 at 12:07 am.

Glen Edward Church, age 50, 228 Pike Street Apt. 9, Marietta, for domestic violence, a felony. Church was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Jul 13 at 12:41 am.

Amy Marie Leedy, age 24, 45669 Miller Road, Pomeroy, for a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of theft. Leedy was arrested in Cutler by Deputy Sheriff McKee and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Jul 13 at 2:24 am.

Douglas Edward Carpenter, age 31, 817 Masonic Park Road, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Carpenter was arrested on Greene Street by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Jul 13 at 2:52 am.

Edward Lafayette Sayger III, age 32, 193 Fourth Street, Lowell, for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Sayger was arrested on Front Street by Lt. Gherke of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Jul 13 at 11:18 am.

Daniel Wayne Goldsmith, age 22, 415 Third Street, Marietta, for fishing without a license, a misdemeanor. Goldsmith was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Jul 13 at 12:17 pm.

Brent Arnold Conner, age 54, 111 W. Montgomery Street Lot 16, Marietta, for illegal repair of a vehicle on a street, a misdemeanor. Conner was arrested on Alta Street by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Jul 13 at 8:30 pm.
